Speculation Pat Kirwan thinks Aaron Glenn will be next Saints head coach (4 Viewers)

I’m not saying that it would be good or bad, but I feel like that’s a real lazy take. It’s typical of national talking heads with no clue as to what’s going on locally.

I don't think it's a lazy take; it would fit Mickey's pattern if he's still making decisions.

I’d prefer an offensive coach but Aaron Glenn wouldn’t be a bad choice. My preference would be an up and coming young coach. May be time to get some fresh blood in here.

Aaron Glenn is an up and coming young coach, no?

I think the next HC, is already the HC.

If Rizzi is the HC, do we see a another soft reboot like we had from Payton to Allen where there's little staff turn over? I'd like be okay with seeing the offensive staff stay intact. I think Kubiak can still be a great OC in this league once he has more time with his core players. However, I'd like to see a new defensive philosophy with new coaches on defense. I think Rizzi or Glenn could do that, but Rizzi may be more likely to not bring in new guys on defense.

Not an exciting pick. As DC for four years, he's only ran a good defense there for two of em. The other two, they were among the worst defenses in the league.

But it doesn't mean he couldn't make a great NFL Head Coach either.
Yeah, I mean Sean Payton got playcalling duties taken away from him when he was the Giants' OC. Just b/c someone isn't a great coordinator every season doesn't mean they can't be a good coach.

I'm less convinced on Kubiak as OC and I would certainly like to see a more attacking defensive philosophy brought in. But, I'm not sure that Woods wouldn't do that now that he is no longer working with DA. But, I'm honestly not sure what the other options would be for DC or OC.

I'd rather a coach with no ties to the organization, but I'd be okay with Rizzi or Glenn. But I do think we need new blood and new ideas on the coaching staff under them.

I felt like the DB's got better once Glenn left. We had a huge problem with guys never turning their heads and that got mostly fixed once he left. Adebo still has that problem and he's a penalty machine which is why I don't want to re-sign him. But now that we traded Marshon, we might want to keep him just so we can have more talent there.

Looking at our remaining schedule, I don't see a game that's a likely loss. Maybe the Ram's? The Browns, Giants and Raiders are all good chances to win, with the Packers and Bucs being winnable.

I'm seeing anywhere from a 3-3 record to a 6-0.

Rizzi really has a solid shot at running the table, and making a super strong case to be retained as Head Coach. Even finishing the season at 4-3 which is certainly doable makes a good case to retain Rizzi.

If Rizzi stays, or we get Glenn, Id like to see new offensive and defensive coaches. Get Mark Brunell and bring him on as OC. And I'd look to Mark Deleone as DC. I really think Mark Deleone is a sneaky up and coming pick. His resume is pretty impressive. And KU is what really stands out to me. KU is a crap football team, but in 2022 when he was there they got good enough to win some games and the defense was why. Since then he's been the Ravens linebackers coach.

I don't know what it is about the offense, but I don't like the lack of timing plays in the pass game. Im not sure if its due to lack of our WR's, Carr, or maybe its just Klint Kubiak's scheme, but our lack of timing plays seems.... off to me. I almost feel like we're a college offensive playstyle with NFL talent. Everything seems mostly running or long. Everything in the middle of the field looks awkward, forced and often out of rhythm.

Much prefer an offensive coach
Same here….I suspect that we will be drafting high enough to pick a franchise QB over the next few years, so I want a coach as close to SP as we can find to build an offense around him. Fingers crossed

Pass. I'd really like to move away from the Defensive Head Coach model.

I do like Glenn, I just prefer my HC to be an offensive mastermind OR, as an alternative, a "Leader of men" type like we have in Rizzi.

No more Payton branch guys. Don't get me wrong, Glenn is a good coach and he may have success being a head coach with another team but I want the orginization to go a different route other than bringing back coaches from the previous regime. Maybe bring in a head coach that already has head coaching experience.

I am bit amazed at how many are already supporting Rizzi as the potential next HC. This team needs a complete rebuild. Rizzi winning one game (where Koo missed 3 FGs) does not make me a believer.

The driving force behind the Lions is Campbell. I like Glenn. He made the most out of himself as a player and is doing great as a coach. I like the idea of hiring the first African American Head Coach in the team's history. I just really want to see what Rizzo can do. Either way, the scouting department and front office is really going to have to get it right to make the Saints contenders again.

Personally I think Rizzi would have to go 6-2 and have the team playing good in all 8 games for me to want to give him a shot as HC. Even then I think there needs to be a full set of interviews done to make sure he is the right guy.

But, my preference would be an entirely new coaching staff and I'd prefer and offensive minded HC. But, I don't think we should rule out any DCs including Aaron Glenn. Ultimately I think we need a guy to set the tone of the organization and hold people accountable. But it would also be nice if that guy was also great on one side of the ball or the other. More importantly, I want a guy with an eye for talent because I think Loomis tends to defer to the HC on draft picks so we need a guy who knows what he is doing in talent evaluation.

Overall, I think we need a HC that does what Payton did and becomes the face and heart beat of the organization. I'm not yet sold on anyone as that guy at this point.

I mean Glenn interviewed for the job last time and all reports were that the Saints really liked him. Plus he has obvious ties to the team. So, while it might be "lazy" it's also how these things often go in the NFL. It's a relationship league and the Saints have a prior relationship with Glenn who is considered to be one of the guys in line to get a HC job soon.

What is going on locally that makes you think this not likely to happen?

Rizzi also interviewed for the job. Glenn wasn't offered the job and Rizzi was given a promotion to Assistant HC with his ST Coordinator duties. That alone tells me who they prefer as a future HC.
