Speculation Pat Kirwan thinks Aaron Glenn will be next Saints head coach (2 Viewers)

Rizzi also interviewed for the job. Glenn wasn't offered the job and Rizzi was given a promotion to Assistant HC with his ST Coordinator duties. That alone tells me who they prefer as a future HC.
Not necessarily. Glenn may not have wanted to stay if he did not get the job.

Yep, Rizzi interviewed for the job too but promoting him to ACH doesn't really mean that they didn't like Glenn more as a HC.

And word was that Glenn was a serious contender to get the job at the time. I heard no such thing about Rizzi.

Regardless, things have changed since then and Rizzi has a chance to earn the job. We'll have to see how he does but for me to want him to get the job I really need him to end up 6-2 or 5-3 with the team playing good to great football in each game. And they still need to do a full slate of interviews to make sure there isn't someone better.

In the end if neither Rizzi nor Glenn were better options than DA 3 years ago, it makes me question picking either one now.

I predict we will go 5 and 3 under Rizzi. I remain unconvinced Glenn would be an upgrade over Rizzi.

The only thing I'm convinced of right now is that Rizzi is an upgrade over DA. But, that's not saying a lot and I think he needs to be much more than that to be the right guy for the job. But, he will get a chance to earn it.

What has Rizzi shown to give you that feeling?

Reminds me a lot of Dan Campbell.

Mostly, I like the way he communicates with the press and the team. It makes what is going on seem transparent and authentic. There was something about the DA, Loomis, Carr way of communicating that was very disengenuous to the fans and the team.

So would I since Loomis likes familiarity and he got a second interview last time. Personally I want an offensive head coach that isn't on the Payton tree.

But that doesn't necessarily make you a winning head coach. Payton, Belichick, and Saban were all great head coaches and all were evasive and opaque. And BB and Saban were downright butt crevasses.

I don't think that indicates a preference of Rizzi over Glenn. Glenn wasn't here to make him AHC. And I don't know if Loomis made Rizzi AHC. Usually the head coach picks his staff so I would've expected that to have come from DA.

Whoever it is it needs to be an energetic, motivating person that others respect and want to follow.
Young men need that kind of factor in the locker room.

I’m not saying that it would be good or bad, but I feel like that’s a real lazy take. It’s typical of national talking heads with no clue as to what’s going on locally.
I think your take is quite lazy too, no offense. Pat Kirwin is about as connected and informed as any national talking head could possibly be. PK is (in my humble opinion) the best in the business. If you’ve never listened to moving the chains on SiriusXm you should give it a shot. It’s the sole reason I pay for a subscription.

As for Aaron Glenn, I don’t think he really moves the needle. I like the guy and wouldn’t be angry if he is hired, but as some have already said, I would prefer an offensive minded head coach.

We need an offensive coach. Much easier to win with a good offense and mediocre defense vs a mediocre offense and a good defense.

I felt the same. When CSP gave an interview, he'd identify a problem area and say "we're going to get that fixed"; or he'd say "we're going to watch the tape to identify the problem, and get it fixed." And that's what he DID. Sometimes he just squeezed the bubble somewhere else, sometimes he popped it. But where ever he focused attention, it got better.

All I heard from DA the past 2 years was "Look....I gotta coach better, players gotta play better, and we all have to get better, and HOPEFULLY...we'll be better." Really? That's your diagnosis..."we need to be better"? And that's your fix...HOPE to be better? I heard some version of this for 43 games and I grew tired of his BS cliches and tuned him out a LONG time ago. Imagine having to hear this every day....in the classroom, on the field, etc... No wonder the players tuned him out. Disingenuous is right...

It's only been 1 game, and it's only week 2 of the Rizze regime, but Rizzi is a breath of fresh air and seems like the real deal. But we've tasted bland saltine wafers for so long, can't tell if Rizzi is the Ritz, or something in between. At least I'm looking forward to finding out, instead of dreading what new ways DA was conjure up to steal a defeat from the jaws of victory. Hope is an improvement...I'll take it.

There's a lot of Loomis decisions over the last three years that remind me of the Chris Rock bit on OJ...-But I understand

I really think that they looked at Sean's last season as a fantastic coaching job with really difficult circumstances. Sean didn't do it alone and they didn't want to blow the staff out when he quit. - I understand

When hiring the replacement I think they knew if they hired Rizzi or Aaron Glenn, they would lose Allen for being passed over and the defense was playing fantastic. - I understand

And so on and so on.

Now this cycle is completely different. The palate has been cleansed. I said it in another thread but If you want to raid the Lions give me:

Aaron Glenn HC
Ray Agnew GM
Tanner Engstrand OC

I would like the new head coach to have his own personnel guy that shares his vision. Too many examples recently with San Fran, Buffalo and KC where getting the coach and letting him bring in someone that shares his vision has paid off. Mickey can be the EVP/Minister of Culture.
