N/S Patriots hire Jerod Mayo as Head Coach (1 Viewer)

So it must be asked, do the Pats get two 3rd round comp picks since they developed a minority coach and he got a head coaching job?

Only seems fair they would imo
Wasn't Mayo a linebacker for Tennessee

He was also a linebacker for New England, then became a coach in New England and they developed him and heā€™s now the head coach.

If he were hired by any other team New England would receive two 3rd round picks as comp picks since they developed a minority candidate that received a head coaching job, so my question is will they still get those picks even though they developed and hired him? IMO they should

I really wanted him in his draft year, we got Sedrick Ellis instead. I think he will be a good hire, former player who played for the team at a high level has worked with Demeco Ryans at Houston..
I agree. Another interesting factoid is the Patriots selected Mayo in 2008 with the Saints 1st round pick. We traded up (no surprise) with NE from 10th to 7th to get Ellis while Belichek got Mayo at 10th (defensive rookie of the year).

Good point.

Looks like Mayo is in! Congrats! I hope he gets all the bread he deserves, and he can use his existing chemistry to ham it up with the players.

However, If he doesn't do well, the fans may throw tomatoes at him. Lettuce hope that he does well!

Sorry.. couldn't help myself šŸ¤£
I think it'd be a miracle if he can whip the Pats into shape.

I guess never say never, but there's a 0.00001% chance that Mayo is let go this week. Kraft has been grooming Mayo for this position and picked him in his mind 5 years ago as Belichick's successor. It's just not going to happen. Could there be some schism sooner, rather than later? Sure. But there's no (0.00001%) chance it's happening now.

Probably him starting Brisset for so long over Mayes hurt things
