Pats and Vrabel in contract talks per Pelissero (22 Viewers)

It was done before they fired Mayo. It was probably done before they even hired Mayo, they only went with Mayo because he had language in his contract that he was to be the coaching successor to Bill.
I was telling my brother this. I think they wanted him last year and people said he was a favorite until they heard about Mayo’s clause.

He has a winning record. The stats speak for themselves. Tennessee firing him was one of the biggest blunders they've made and they havent been the same since.

Ask Tennessee fans and most would tell you they wish he never left.

Not only that. There's a certain running back they had who is doing quite well in Baltimore.
Ehh, maybe it was a dumb decision and perhaps the Titans mightve done better this year if Vrabel were their HC, but if one looks more closely at the teams' overall results, win-loss record, I think after 2020/21 seasons, Vrabel had kind of peaked in terms of how far he was going to take the Titans to the playoffs. I believe even Vrabel understood he had probably done all he was going to do with Tennessee and their organization and FO made it easier for him to seek a new challenge. I'm not sure Derrick Henry stays in Tennessee even if they retain Vrabel because he recognized at age 30, he wasnt going to any SB's as a Titan and the team had already had their chances from 2019-21 and they blew it.

That's all missing the point. Dave was responding to the comment that Vrabel had a losing history. I only did a very quick search, but his record as head coach looks to be 54-45. Thats fairly decent.

I’m always skeptical of this take.
Look at the Saints from 12-16. 5 years and 1 playoff appearance.
Picture Payton leaving at that moment. You probably won’t get 17-20.
And while it didn’t include a Super Bowl, it was still an overall fun time with a lot of wins.

Yeah Hamilton hasn't coached since 2021, Leftwich hasn't coaches since 2023.

I was questioning AG turning down the Pats interview. But I think it’s clear he made the right move. Now the Pats sham process has been exposed by being forced to interview guys who aren’t even coaching anymore just so they can hurry up and beat everyone else to Vrabel.

Yes. Hopefully the Bears hire Pete Carroll.
I mean, this seems like the best fit in terms of both a franchise and coach best known for a blue collar approach with a focus on defense, a strong running game and steady play at the QB position.

If it were me I’d be looking for someone to develop Caleb Williams. Kliff Kingsbury might be the best guy for that. But if they go defensive I think it’s better for us since I’m wanting an offensive guy.

Yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think Carroll had shown he can utilize QB talent within the framework of an effective O, although he won't be producing the kind of fireworks that gets fans hot. But if you can win (forever 😉) then that detail is quickly forgotten.
