Payton is coach of the year (2 Viewers)

On the first down Harris did the same thing Smith did last week. He turns and it’s six.

Get it straight! The Bucs had all 3 timeouts remaining. I agree with the play calling, Sean was going for the win, the Bucs loaded the box & would've stuffed us & used their timeouts
Dude, when the 2-minute warning was over, and we had the ball deep inside Bucs territory, Tampa only had 2 timeouts left, not 3. They spent their first timeout of the half at the 2:35 minute mark when we were driving. And again, how is giving Tom Brady the ball back with just 40-50 yards to gain for a potential GW FG with 1:41 left somehow better than killing at least some of the clock and leave him with just 71 seconds left.

And if Sean truly was playing for the win, who in the hell drew up those terrible plays on 1st and 2nd down that led to those incompletions. If you're genuinely trying to be aggressive in winning than playing not to lose, try to call smarter, more intelligent plays that don't leave fans in the stands scratching their heads, in confusion.

The Bucs called their first time out with 2:36 left in the game. After the 2 minute warning they only had 2 time outs remaining. If you are going to tell someone to get it straight, at least have it straight. Just saying.

Yes, why did he pass 3 times with 2min left at the 10yard line against Tom Brady. With the Bucs only having 1 timeout
That's what I want to know. That shirt almost cost us the game.

At least run the ball on one play, and make the Bucs use the timeout. Sheesh!

FWIW, you can go through any game with any coach and criticize play calls. I didnt like those calls either. But we eon the game, so it's moot.

Johnson done a lot better and most Saints fans feel more comfortable with him,.at least in the short-term, kicking FGs and XPs then Rosas did, until Lutz decides he's sufficiently healed enough. Your argument has some flaws to it because knowing Alvin is deep in the red zone, he's a fighter and likely couldve run it in for a TD.

Giving Brady 1:46 to drive his team down the field 40-50 yards for a potential GW FG makes more sense somehow then him getting the ball back with 71 seconds left? Payton's risky series of plays worked out in the end due to the defense bailing us out(for the win with an INT return for a TD).

Other than the last 2:00 minutes of the game today, I'd argue Payton's play calling was very good, in the "above-average" range.
We had three TO’s. Coach addressed that in the presser. He wanted to score and possibly score again if needed.

I don't any team could do what we've been able to do with all our injuries and still win.

Heck, just Thursday Hopkins went out for a bit and Cardinals couldn't even move the ball.

Imagine if we could ever stay healthy..

He still sometimes makes bad, unnecessarily risky decisions or calls late in-games that IMHO, are more derived or influenced maybe more by his inflated ego, and his play calling arrogance is a hard thing for me to swallow.

I just posted a kind of sharp critique on how Payton's ego, arrogance-fueled offensive mindset on the Game day board that I know will get me some negative criticisms, and reviews but Payton does it with such alarming, amazing regularity and brazenesss that Ive gotten so fed up with it over the years, its next to.impossible to ignore or overlook, otherwise I risk appearing like a clueless idiot. Even though I'll probably get some significant blowback from other SR posters due to it.
Where did you get your degree in psychology?

So, you don't think his play calling on 1st and 2nd down with less then 2:00 minutes was less than desirable or that Payton doesn't make some frustrating, arrogant decisions sometimes during games either now or in the past?

And I got my B.A. in Abnormal Psychology from the University of South Alabama. The chairman of the Dept., Larry Christiansen, was a highly-regarded, well-respected professor of psychology at Texas A&M for over 20 years. He authored or co-authored and did some of the clinical trial studies mentioned or discussed in most of USA's Psychology core curriculum textbooks dating back to the mid-70's. My speciality was in Abnormal Psychology, in relation to tics, behavioral disorders, abnormalities, or even dealing with patients with various alcohol or drug problems. I've read about and seen cases of drug-related disorders that are as mind-boggling to believe they exist as much as their frightening to see. Alcohol Tremens is one such substance-abuse related disorder.

I’ll take Sean Payton over Larry Christianson 1,000 out of 1,000 times, but you keep on hypothesizing.

I didn’t mind Payton’s playcalls on dat last red zone series, jus wished he’d a run da ball one more time.

The bigger issue I had with SP was on the 4th n one early in the game. No problem goin for it, but I didn’t like the playcall, esp with Jameis in da shotgun!

But overall, in terms of his playcalls, n under the circumstances, I’d give Sean Payton a B+/ A-!

Why? Check out these “fun stats” :

The Saints ran for 152 yds against a TB defense that was only giving up 67ypg!

The Saints had 10, count em, TEN players with at least one catch against TB!

22 of the Os 29 pts came with Trevor, who some say is actually a 3rd stringer, at QB!

Man, I’m LOVIN this win,…BIGTIME!!!
