You're right. I'm sure Sean Payton never read that email. And I'm sure he magically filtered his email to preclude any messages that mentioned things like "bounties", "hurting players for cash", etc....even though he had no knowledge this was going on in the locker room.

And so are you. No one is complaining that he got punished, it's the severity. Suspended for a year, and basically fined 7 million dollars. That on top of our other penalties, and, our players who are going to be suspended make the punishment completely over the top and ridiculous. Get some perspective. Where did I say they are the benchmark? The fact is that all but one NFL team apparently followed the league's instructions, because the Saints personnel were the only ones suspended.

And it appears that you have bought into the "the NFL is purposely screwing the Saints" mentality that is running rampant on this board. There are a few people saying "we did something dumb, and are being punished"...accepting the mistakes made, and moving on". The majority are adopting this persecution complex.
