Penning isn’t getting his job back is he (1 Viewer)

Peat has looked good. Gotta give credit where it’s due. Not sure how long it’ll last but here’s hoping ….

Penning will get his chances but it’ll probably be next year. Seems like it’s the mental aspect that’s been getting him. He’s been a bully his whole football life but now he can’t do that snd I think it’s really broken him. That’s why I d heard people talk about or question his mental toughness. He has to solve that
Agreed, that's an issue in general transitioning from college to the NFL let alone when you're from a smaller school or even a less competitive conference amongst the bigger schools. At the NFL level the vast majority of people can't just out athlete everyone else (Aaron Donald and Ndamakong Suh excluded), we saw that first hand on the offensive side with Reggie Bush to be honest. Could Reggie do it? Sure, at times. Could he do it every play like he did in college, absolutely not.

I always wondered why Peat didn’t slide to RT after Strief retired. Then the team drafted Ramczyk and he was a natural at RT, so keeping Peat off the spot made sense. Then the team moved on from Armstead and I wondered why they didn’t move Peat to LT.

You can find guys to slide to guard who were collegiate tackles (Jahri Evans, Carl Nicks) but 6’7” 315 doesn’t seem like the physical profile of a guy you convert.

He’s not. He’s finally where he was supposed to be cause he played LT in college. For some reason they thought he was a guard, but he has really held up at LT. Destiny is finally here. Not even DA could defeat the Who Dats today.

Can we get the pick we used on Penning back?

Penning’s future is either at RT if Ram’s knees continue to get worse or OG. As an OG he’ll have to pull more often, but I think it would help him since he is agile and athletic for a big guy and can keep his base better since he won’t be dropping back as far.

They tried hi, at rd tackle and guard. He just couldn’t get the foot work down to play on the right side. There was no way he was beating out Armstead at left tackle so got the starting job as L Guard. Unless Armstead was out and then he moved to LT.

Which to me is the biggest head scratcher as to why they traded up for El Busto. Peat was a fine LT, there was no need to go trade up for a question mark.

Penning needs to convert to guard in the off season. I don’t have high hopes for him, however. I did not like the pick at the time after seeing his Senior Bowl footage. It was not a popular opinion 😝

Good hopefully he can continue to work and develop and earn that spot back.

Well, it took nearly a decade but Peat has finally taken the LT job (that shouldn’t have been given to anyone else post TA). It’s refreshing seeing a guy play his natural position, and solve an issue for us.

Expect him to come back next year, and have to fight for the LT spot.
Peat has the Meats! (Arby’s voice) oh god I can’t believe I said it but whatever he’s been delivering!
