PFT: firm belief OBJ (was) signing with Saints (1 Viewer)

Are you kidding me lol? We're talking about Odell Cornelious Beckham Jr. here, dude loves the drama and attention. The entire NFL world is focused on him right now. He's not in the spotlight, he is the spotlight. You better believe he's going to milk it for all that it's worth. He probably made up his mind last week but he's going to get his shine.

This is the same guy that went around passing out C notes to college players on live TV after LSU won the championship. Dude was all up in the locker room interrupting Coach O's post game speech. All the focus should've been on the players who just completed a remarkable season but he felt like he needed a little bit of that shine for himself.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that he is the diva to end all divas.
not kidding agreeing... he loves the drama

I absolutely agree with her tweet, and said this in an earlier response in either this thread or one of the other threads. His play/stats for the rest of this season are going to set his market value for his next contract. I wouldn't expect him to sign a contract with any team beyond the rest of this season and next season unless they are willing to pay him top WR money, which I do not see happening given his production and injury history in the past couple seasons.

Thus, he has several factors to weight including, but not limited to, the probability of an immediate Super Bowl appearance with a team, the likelihood of him receiving a high volume of targets, the likelihood of him being more successful in one offensive system as opposed to another, his likelihood of having more success with one quarterback throwing him the ball as opposed to another, etc.

Yes, Odell Beckham has been one of the more "diva" dramatic characters in the NFL since he has entered the league, so I can see why some people feel his sole motivation for taking his time is to create drama and stay in the headlines. However, I personally do not feel that this is his intent at all; I believe he is merely taking his time to make a decision that will maximize his earning capacity for the next contract he will sign barring some team offering him a contact far above his current market value with a lot of guaranteed money.

I do believe money is important to him, but it is also obvious that his personal production and stats mean a lot to him based on his unhappiness with his perceived under utilization on his two previous teams. I believe he wants to be inducted into the hall of fame at some point after his career. So he has to pick a team that he believes will maximize his future earnings capacity as well as one that can increase is production for future accolades. Honestly the two really are hand in hand. More production should result in a higher future earning capacity. This is possibly one of the biggest decisions he has had to make in his life up to this point. I find it is very prudent of him to take his time to make this decision, and I don't believe he will drag this out beyond next week.

If we could have Odell and a healthy Mike Thomas next year, we don't have a WR problem to fix this offseason.

Agreed, and if we do have both these guys, with an improved Jameis at QB (or someone better), along with Kamara and Ingram together again in the backfield, to go along with our emerging defense?

Even if the miracle happened and OBJ signed with the Saints, our other guys HAVE to catch the football when its a catchable pass.
Exactly. Getting one 'good hands' receiver doesn't let all the rest of our professional football catchers off the hook. Even if we can find a great receiver somewhere, the others still need to hone that skill as well. We can't throw every pass to the same guy.

I was thinking. If we sign OBJ which receiver do we cut? I guess all their names go into a hat and we draw.

I have a feeling a bullet will be dodged if he doesn’t sign with saints. Dudes been injured the last few seasons as far as I know, but I never particularly cared for him so I haven’t kept up. I’m not saying I hate him I’m just never been a big fan.

This team needs receiver help though I’m all for it

No one. I think we already have an open roster spot since we flipped Chase Hansen away.

I’ve seen no one mainstream even hint that the deal is done to KC.

Unless he has a true affinity for playing at home again, and/or has some very convincing local friends and family members, I believe he will be a Chief. Probably his best shot to put up great numbers and potentially play for a championship before hitting the market again next year.

Let us not forget Honey Badger.
Dang we tried to get him and failed? I don’t remember that.
My biggest heartbreak was not landing Deion. Also was upset when we lost the corner to Washington in 2015, can’t remember his name…but that worked out well for us.

There is no way I’d come here if I were him. Bad QB play, worst receivers in the history of the game, not going to win a Super Bowl, can’t pay much. Lol
