If he becomes a FA and we do not make a strong run at him regaudless of the price I will be so ****** it is not to often you get a chance to get a top CB twice in one season. (I am referring to Asante)

Why would Tampa, a cover-2 team, want to pay that kind of money for a man corner?
Even if he becomes a FA the Saints will more than likely NOT try to sign him. They didn't want to spend big money on a single player throughout the FA period... I doubt they'll spend money on Asomugha... but we can always dream...
I think we need to do everything in our power to grab Asomugha. I'd offer the Raiders either:
This year's 2nd and 5th....they are cash strapped and there's no way they can afford to sign two top 10 picks.
OR....
Next year's first and this year's fifth.
We definitely have the money to sign him this year...AND...provide atleast two of next year's potential FAs (Smith, Evans, Colston, Vilma) a contract this year. The money we have left is for FAs. I believe that money left over already accounts for the money required to sign our draft picks this year. He would probably get a deal of the same caliber as Samuel, which really is cap friendly for the next two years...which I wouldn't mind one bit.
We'd have McKenzie, Young, David, Gay, Craft, and Asomugha on the roster. This would give us an excellent secondary no matter how McKenzie's health is. I think the FO will take a hard look at his health and that will ultimately be the determining factor if we decide to go after him. Also, if we did snag him....I'd look for us to cut Duece after June 1st to spread the cap hit and also look for us to snag Rivers at 10 if Dorsey/Ellis are gone. Or even Gholston if he's there and let Smith walk next year.

If the Raiders lift the tag, there is no need to offer any trade compensation. They lose the right to trade him if he becomes a free agent, unless he would have been restricted before recieving the tag.
We've already spent a considerable amount of money this year. Far more then people seem to realize. And we still have deals like Colston, Evans, and Smith left. There are too many teams with much more cap space who haven't done much of anything this year in Free Agency.
yep...behind Tampa Bay.
I doubt we have the money to win a bidding war for Nnamdi
Just this past week an article was posted with teams remaining cap space and we are second behind Tampa. .
Hall, for that matter, is an addition, not a substitution.
