i did not leave my bed yesterday, well, i have some kind of stomach bug, though the rain made the day so relaxing.
So you had a stomach bug AND you didn’t leave your bed? I would hate to change your sheets.

Granddaughter, age 2. See, this is what being a kid is all about! I mean, zoom in and check out that face . . . When was the last time you felt that way? Mudpuddles bring out the kid in us all!

If you like rain, do I have a place for you!

Our winter here in the PNW is soft rain. A lot of it. Like months of it- we call it winter. The most underrated thing here in Portland, we have zero wind.

Also, it isn't cold. Today it is in the upper 50's with a low in the upper 40's overnight. It is 55 at 8am. It is supposed to be in the 60's and sunny this week for two days and the other five are in the upper 50's and soft rain (< 1" in the day) with no wind.

Spring starts in two weeks so we will be in full bloom - cherry blossom, dogwoods and rose gardens as far as the eye can see. Even the regular trees bloom here. Most I didn't even know they had flowers.

Then the rains stop until November. Summers are in the 80's with an occasional hot day. We still get some rain but mostly it is dry until the winter again. Portland actually gets less rain than Nashville in a yearly basis.

How ‘no wind’?
I don’t understand that

unless you like sailing

which i thought to be good on the columbia, at least for windsurfing

won't even go to the dock for 8mph :)
World class windsurfing in Hood River, OR on the Columbia. About 45 east up the Columbia gorge. They got wind. And fishing. Right at the base of Mt Hood. Spectacular. Which btw is taller than any mountain in Colorado by a lot. It is over 12000' in elevation, but it starts at like 200' above sea level.

For reference Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs is over 14,000 but starts at over 6000' above sea level

Oh and the Pacific Ocean is only 45 minutes away so sailing isn't an issue
