Might as well not call 9-1-1 anymore...

A 43-year-old father was shot and killed in his home by a Las Vegas police officer last week, authorities said, after he called 911 for help.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police received multiple calls in the early morning hours of November 12 about a shooting on Wine River Drive. Brandon Durham, who was home with his 15-year-old daughter, told 911 that people were shooting at his house and had broken in, Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren said at a news conference last week.

When Officer Alexander Bookman and two others responded, they saw damaged cars and windows and heard screaming and banging from inside Durham’s home. Bookman kicked in Durham’s front door and, once inside, found Durham and Alejandra Boudreaux, 31, wrestling over a knife in a bedroom doorway, according to Koren.

Boudreaux, who was in a relationship with Durham, had broken into the home and she and Durham were in a heated confrontation, according to an arrest report.

Bookman shouted, “Drop the knife! Drop the knife!” and fired one shot, hitting Durham and sending him and Boudreaux to the ground. Durham, on the floor, was then shot by Bookman five more times, body-worn camera footage released by police showed.

A Kentucky police officer who was shot in 2020 during protests over Breonna Taylor’s death is suing his department, alleging his superiors discriminated against him after he expressed his opinion about Taylor's shooting.

Louisville Officer Robinson Desroches alleges in the lawsuit that Black officers like himself “who discuss race or criticize their experience related to race are vilified as betraying ‘the thin blue line.’”

In the lawsuit filed in Jefferson County on Monday, Desroches alleges that some leaders tried to push him out of the department after he "firmly stated that the true reason he was shot in the line of duty is ‘because LMPD officers killed Breonna Taylor.'” He says one commander criticized his long rehabilitation after he was seriously wounded in the shooting.

Louisville Police declined to comment on the lawsuit Tuesday, but said in a statement that the department “strives to create an inclusive environment where employees feel welcomed, valued, and respected. The department takes seriously any accusations of harassment and/or discrimination.”…….

This is beyond deplorable:

PHOENIX, AZ — A Black man, who is deaf and has cerebral palsy is facing felony aggravated assault and resisting arrest charges after he was repeatedly punched and tasered by a pair of Phoenix police officers.

The violent and rapid arrest of Tyron McAlpin raises serious questions and could serve as a test case for Phoenix and the Department of Justice as the two battle over whether the police department in America’s fifth-largest city needs federal oversight.

Acting on false claims from a white man under investigation, body camera video shows officers unexpectedly go after McAlpin, punch him in the head at least 10 times, Taser him four times, and wrap their arms around his neck.

“It’s hard for me to see how the city can come out and say with [a] straight face that it is meeting the DOJ report head-on when this man is being charged with assault on police officers for this incident,” said Jesse Showalter, one of McAlpin's attorneys.

...
The violent arrest stems from a morning call from Circle K employees who reported that a White man was causing problems and wouldn’t leave the store, records show.

While being trespassed, the man claimed he was assaulted by a Black man and pointed across the street at McAlpin.

Officers Harris and Sue took the man’s claims at face value and left him to go after McAlpin. (The man’s assault claim was later refuted by store employees and surveillance video, records show.)

I hope the Feds step in and arrest these thugs and remove the judge that granted them the probable cause for the case to move forward, even tough he has seen that video!!! WTH!!!!
:frack:
Edit: The prosecutor should also be facing misconduct charges for pursing any case against Mr. McAlpin based off the words of these KNOWN LIARS!!!!
Update:
This report contains more video that was available to the prosecutors that chose to seek prosecution of this victim of police brutality:

A white Kansas police detective accused of sexually assaulting Black women and girls and terrorizing those who tried to fight back is about to go on federal trial, part of a tangle of cases tied to decades of alleged abuse.

Prosecutors say female residents of poor neighborhoods in Kansas City, Kansas, feared that if they crossed paths with Roger Golubski, he'd demand sexual favors and threaten to harm or jail their relatives. He is charged with six felony counts of violating women's civil rights, and jury selection in his trial is set to begin Monday in a federal courthouse in Topeka.

The case has outraged the community and deepened the historical distrust of law enforcement, often seen as being more heavy-handed in predominately Black neighborhoods. The prosecution follows earlier reports of similar abuse allegations across the country where hundreds of officers have lost their badges after allegations of sexual assaults.

Golubski, now 71, is accused of sexually assaulting one woman starting when she was barely a teenager and another after her sons were arrested. If a jury convicts him, he could die in prison.

The trial is the latest in a string of lawsuits and criminal allegations that has led the county prosecutor's office to begin a $1.7 million effort to reexamine cases Golubski worked on during his 35 years on the force. One double murder case Golubski investigated already has resulted in an exoneration, and an organization run by rapper Jay-Z is suing to obtain police records.

Golubski has pleaded not guilty, and his attorney has said that lawsuits over the allegations are an "inspiration for fabrication" by his accusers. But prosecutors said that, along with the two women whose accounts are the heart of the criminal case, seven others will testify that Golubski abused or harassed them.……

He was a coward.

The amount of human depravity shown is just deplorable:

A dark night in Missouri’s Bootheel

Around 11 p.m. on July 9, 2023, according to the disciplinary complaint, Michelle Anders, injured, alone, and allegedly intoxicated, was lying on the side of U.S. Highway 412 when she saw the red and blue lights of a Dunklin County sheriff’s cruiser.

She told Deputies Joseph Philpot and Nicholas Cobb she was walking from Little Rock and was fleeing a violent situation. Visible bruises stained her face, and there was a knot on her head. She stated her shoulder was broken, according to the disciplinary complaints in both deputies’ cases.

On body camera video, provided to First Alert 4 Investigates, the deputies asked her if she wanted an ambulance, and she declined. They then pressed her to tell them where she was trying to go, and she said she was heading to Chicago to see her son.

Anders told the deputies she did not have a phone, was not familiar with the area, and asked them for a ride to the nearest gas station.

After a conversation with each other, it became apparent that it was not going to happen.
“You want to give her a ride?” Philpot is seen asking Cobb.

“Not really,” Cobb replied.

The deputies then told her to walk and told her if she needed to rest, to do so in the grass and not on the shoulder of the highway, the footage shows.

The Justice Department on Wednesday said a 17-month civil rights investigation found that the Memphis Police Department engages in the systemic use of excessive force and discriminates against Black people and disabled people.

In a scathing 73-page report, federal authorities said they had identified a pattern of unlawful conduct, including serious problems in the way officers handle traffic stops and deal with children, as well as deficiencies in training, policies and accountability of officers accused of misconduct.

The report comes nearly two years after Memphis police officers on a specialized street-crime unit brutally beat Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, after a traffic stop.

Nichols died from his injuries three days later.

Justice officials said they will discuss the findings at a news conference in Memphis on Thursday.

“The people of Memphis deserve a police department and city that protects their civil and constitutional rights, garners trust and keeps them safe,” Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, who heads the Justice Department’s civil rights division, said in a statement………

That statement is basically a version of “He’s resigning to spend time with his family/because of health issues”

The US Bureau of Prisons (BoP) announced on Thursday it was permanently closing a California women’s prison plagued by staff sexual misconduct scandals, and suspending operations at six other federal institutions.

The shutdowns come as the federal agency is facing intensifying scrutiny surrounding guards’ rampant sexual abuse of incarcerated residents, a crisis of suicides and preventable deaths across its prisons and reports of severe medical neglect.

The BoP is permanently shuttering the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Dublin, a low-security facility east of Oakland, which was known internally as the “rape club” due to the widespread, documented staff assaults of women in custody.

Seven former officers have been criminally convicted for a range of sexual offenses, including the former warden, and more than 20 were placed on leave and are under investigation.

FCI Dublin was temporarily closed in April after a US judge appointed a special master to oversee the embattled facility, and hundreds of incarcerated residents were transferred to institutions across the US.

The BoP said Thursday that it had also “deactivated” prisons and camps in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Florida, with incarcerated residents transferred elsewhere.

The bureau cited “critical staffing shortage, crumbling infrastructure, and limited budgetary resources”, and said employees would also be transferred, asserting that the bureau was “not downsizing” and that it was “committed to finding positions for every employee who wants to remain with the agency”.

The BoP also said it had been “unable to maintain staffing levels” at Dublin “due to the high cost of living and competition from other area law enforcement agencies”. The announcement did not address the sexual abuse scandals.………

A São Paulo state police officer is seen leading an unarmed man to the edge of an overpass in an impoverished neighbourhood of Latin America’s largest city.

Seconds later, the officer pushes the man, who falls backwards from a height of three metres into a shallow stream of murky, sewage-laden water. Three other officers can be seen watching the scene unfold, taking no action.

The victim – later identified as a motorcycle delivery driver – was rescued by local people and taken to a hospital. He survived. By Thursday morning, the officer responsible had been arrested, while 12 others involved in the operation were suspended.

The shocking footage – recorded from a distance by a passerby – has sparked outrage across Brazil and become the most harrowing example yet of how the state police force in São Paulo has grown increasingly violent since the start of last year.…….

Police in Akron, Ohio, have released body-camera footage of the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy, in an incident the city’s mayor called “deeply troubling”.

Video of the Thanksgiving night killing of Jazmir Tucker does not clearly show what led up to the shooting, but suggests that an officer quickly fired at the teenager upon encountering him, and that a group of officers waited seven minutes to approach the boy after he had been shot. The family’s attorneys have said officers did not start rendering aid for 10 minutes.

“In hindsight, the amount of time that expired between the shooting and the initiation of physical aid to Jazmir is deeply troubling to me,” Akron’s mayor, Shammas Malik, said in a statement on Thursday, alongside the release of the footage. “I want to be clear that any unreasonable delay in the rendering of aid by police officers is unacceptable and has no place in Akron.”

Police have said that two patrol officers heard nearby gunshots just after 11pm on 28 November and got out of their parked car to investigate. The officers then encountered Jazmir and ran after him, officials said. One officer fired his assault rifle at the teen, fatally striking him. The boy was later pronounced dead at a hospital and no officers were injured.

The boy was found with a gun in a zipped-up pocket, raising concerns about why lethal force had been used, Malik said: “Why did the officer decide to use his weapon?”…….
