How anyone could vote anything other than Vienna on this thread is beyond me. However, Ultravox was neither a 1 hit wonder nor do they deserve to be in a list of absolute pap. Ultravox was a GREAT band for their time (including the Midge Ur era). Vienna is a great song and a good video too. But they also had Dancing With Tears in My Eyes which was also a hit (MTV era) and who can forget Mr. X (though it predates all of you except maybe Ted and HH).

I ran doesn't hold a candle to Space Age Love Song which is actually a very good song for whatever reason.

And Haircut 100 (Boy Meets Girl?)? If you like them, it's because you were looking at the dude's loin cloth. <---- Absolutely horrificness in the 2nd invasion.

Modern English gets the HM for I'll Stop the World (thanks JohnnyD for reminding me of that crapola). Why is that song so "great" in the minds of so many? I'd even take the Thompson Twins over Modern English. Oh that's some bad, bad stuff.

Also, I'm not sure if they were a 1 hit wonder or not, but Wham!'s "I wanna be there when you hit that hiiiiiiiiiiieeee" song was terrible and probably worthy of inclusion. Assuming Kajagoogoo's Too Shy was in the 1980's, they are also best (which really means WORST) 1 hit wonder band and then there was that idiotic Der Komissar song done both in English and German. Don't turn around indeed.

Actually, I had to look up the lyrics. The only thing I could remember was "Oh Sherry.." I never knew the rest of the words. As I copied it I was saying to myself, "Oh, that's what he was saying." As for the rep points, I would deserved the smoking for bringing up this song.

Which was a hit overseas by Falco before "After the Fire" recorded it and made it into a top 10 (maybe even top 5) hit in the US.

BTW, MTV voted that video the worst ever. That should make you smile......

NEWCLEUS (Jam On It) this was the best of the 80's in one song. Rap, Breakdancing, Synthesizer, Echo Effect, Space Theme, Big Glasses...they even worked in the word Dolomite.
