Potential Severe Weather tomorrow, 3-22-22 (Update: Tornadoes on ground in metro area) (1 Viewer)

Shot this in Texas yesterday. One storm produced tornado after tornado. Got the drone on two of them but this was by far the best.

Wow that almost looks like CGI at times.

Some of the phone video from the tornado last week in Kansas is amazing - looks like the daytime lighting conditions were perfect for filming a tornado. I have seen a handful of really incredible ones.

two questions?
how are wind turbines not moving in a flippin tornado?
what's your math about how close your drones can get to the cone?

I think they have their brakes on and I would like to know the answer to the second one as well. And what is the range of your drone? Just wondering how close you have to be to send it up.

Pretty wild afternoon/evening. Saw some amazing shots from the choppers of the funnels forming, dissipating, recycling.

Seminole got hit hard after having another tornado Monday.

Isn't the midwest entering peak tornado season?
Something like that. I'm no expert but I play one on the internet, but I believe they lock the blades on some to prevent them from turning.
I'm no expert either, but can research. You are correct. They put the brakes on for repairs and when strong winds are
expected.

They do have brakes.
My math depends on the drone and the composition of the shot. Way too many variables but it’s definitely a feel sort of thing that came with lots of practice. Yesterday was extremely challenging. As it first crossed the road it really pushed the drone to its limits. Had to drop altitude and retreat at an angle. I could have got closer after that but no real reason. Between crop and zoom can get the shot I’m looking for. Every now and then I’m ready for a new drone and get really brave.

Thanks we are a

Thanks we are about out of ours. I believe we've seen our last cold front. Now we get to look forward to hurricane season.
Don't forget about flood season. That tends to get rolling in the deep south in May.

Power went out in my area around 1am this morning. Didn't come back on till around 4am. Was a pretty rough storm here, lots of lightning. Many street lights are out in the Metairie area, especially coming off the causeway. Stay safe.
