Either would of been ranked 6th or 7th in last years class so I’d much rather they pass on both

If this were a blind poll and the choices were 70.1% completion percentage / 134 career tds or 65.7% completion percentage / 81 career tds, the results would show a preference for what actually matters.
What about these players since the start of 2023 when they were both in a major conference?

It’s closer than you think

I haven’t seen any film evidence that shows Shadeur not being NFL caliber. Just intangible (opinions) about him not living up to the hype…

The one with 70+ completion percentage

Means he makes pretty good decisions with the ball now get playmakers that can take 5 yards to a 50+ yarder and we got something

The knock on him is he holds onto the ball too long and doesn't throw it away to keep his completion % up. His father also kept the ball out of his hands when it mattered so that's a question about his makeup when the game is on the line, his father didn't even trust him.

Player A- 18,722 career passing yards and 155 career passing touchdowns

Player B- 14,327 career passing yards and 134 career passing touchdowns

Which one is better?

The answer shows how flawed this is cherry picking 2 stats without context.

Dillon Gabriel (Player A) vs Shadeur Sanders (Player B)

I’d say dart with 69.3% comp pct in the SEC is pretty darn good.

Dart also took plenty of shots downfield to guys like Tre Harris.

Look I actually like Sanders as a prospect as well but it’s hard to compare the two of them when they played in different conferences against different competition and in different schemes.

Even considering the above their production the last two seasons isn’t super different. I don’t think one is head or shoulders above the other. This tracks with some boards having different QB2s(Dart on some and Sanders on the others)

I’m happy with whomever Moore and the org get behind with 100% certainty. They need to pick their guy and have an actual plan. I don’t particularly care who it is but there needs to be vision.

Never really got the Sanders hate outside of how people feel about Deion. I think Sanders is much more cut out for the better NFL career all things considered. Not too excited about any QB in this class but if we do take one, especially in the first, it'd have to be Shadeur. But I sure do love tacoes...

If Sanders was elite he would have dominated the competition because Big 12 is known as a defense optional conference

Can we agree that completion percentage IS the most important stat that either of us have mentioned? If we can, it isn't a cherry-picked stat. I think the concensus amongst most professional evaluators is that completion percentage is the best indicator of a QB's potential for success. It's how you don't end up with Anthony Richardson (not saying Jaxson is anywhere close to that).

It's a wasted pick either way. Neither one can beat out Rattler in my opinion.
Look, I like Rattler but what is the deal with not wanting other QBs to have a real competition? Rattler did not win a game, completed 57% passing and had 4 tds and 5 ints. That ain’t burning it up in my book. If he wins the competition then he can start but until then I’m rooting for any QB that Moore gives the starting job.

Not when the player deliberately holds onto the ball to inflate his completion percentage.
