Pros and Cons after the 49ers game. (2 Viewers)

Ok. Lets go. Pros: Our first team defense minus some key starters continue to play well. Orji and Rico Payton had a solid game. Penning improve a lot and hope to continue (very happy about this one), running game was ok.

Cons: WR. WR and WR. Gees we have no one after Shaheed. AT Perry can occasionally gives you a few catches here and there but I see a Brandon Coleman clone there. Add to the insult Shaheed in walking boots. No one stood out in this game. Offensive line throughout is still our weakest link. What's up with Lemieux and his snaps today? He is a veterans for sake. None of our back up quarterbacks are ready. Haener in the lead but still. I am not advocating to sign a veteran. Keep both as back up and hope we don't need them to play this year. CB Wright had a terrible game. Foskey still doesn't stand out.

Meh: Payton Turner had some moments to make a play but he needs to finish. Doesn't seem to play with authority.

People went way overboard with Rattler but that's not his fault. He needs reps and time. Haener would clearly be #2, but he also still needs reps and time. Quite frankly I'm fine with that should Carr go down. This team needs a top 5 pick badly. Also, haven't had a 4.3 breakaway RB in a long time. Since Sproles?

Well can't expect too much but just comparing the two, Haener is still in the lead. But he didn't play well. Would of made a big difference if he had finish that drive with a td.

I’ll add Taysom at fullback in short yardage to the “pros” but Taysom at halfback as a “con.” Only because I really prefer Taysom with 10 blockers and an extra split second to read the D.

Our back up doesn't have vision. Mims is a hard runner and looks to contribute but he lacks vision

This game didn't change my opinion much, I was happy about the long, time consuming drive. Offensive line is still a big work in progress, WR and TE depth will be an issue, think the defense will be ferocious.

I thought Penning looked better. To be honest I think he’s the clear starter at RT. I think we bring in a veteran to compete after cuts but think he remains at least for now to begin the season.

Considering the time he’s spent out I liked what I saw from a limited Bub Means. We need a WR or two to step up and he showed potential.

Really liked Orji and Hudson tonight. LB depth is strong.

I thought Williams and Robinson both ran really hard tonight.

Taysom Hill will have a larger role in this offense than he ever has before!

I was pretty happy overall with this game. The 49ers are an elite team and they played well against them. They really played better this week than last week despite the loss and I think they looked much improved.

The OL was better despite Fuaga being out and I think the running game looked good. They did get stuffed a few times, but they also got some really nice chunk plays in the run game. I think Penning was likely very improved, but I really want to see all of his snaps isolated on the OL so I can have a better idea of what he did, but my sense was that he was much better.

But the most positive thing is that the starting defense is looking really good even without Lattimore and Adebo on the field. And the defense looks deep particularly at LB and at DB. The pass rush also looks great with Young and Breese.

There are still issues at Safety opposite Tyrann but I thought Will Harris stepped up a Safety and had a good game. The backup OL was still bad in pass protection but hopefully most of those guys never start. Not a lot of answers at WR behind Olave and Shaheed, but Bub Means had two nice catches and Perry looks to be improving. But, nobody has yet stepped up to really take the #3 WR job.

On the bad side, Foskey still continues to do nothing and Holker sprained his ankle in pre-game and Kook-Aid and Boyd left the game. Hopefully we can get healthy in the next 3 weeks.
