Still think Carr is too old to suddenly become a quick decision maker. Once he gets hit from this crappy oline, he 's done

Those aren't really Carr's problems. His problems are that he's not quite as accurate as you would like him to be, he doesn't throw with anticipation or throw receivers open, and he's not mobile in the pocket. Which is why he's an average to above average NFL QB. Maybe in the new system it will make him look a bit better. It's happened for lots of other similar players.

This is the only safe place. What I’m thinking is going to happen, come time for Carolina. There are thousands of toxic fans waiting to toxically boo the team starting with the first incomplete passes. In my YouTube feeds, I’ve been seeing some of these local saints YouTubers, posting Carr hate vids. Naming them “why Saints fans hate Carr”. You could say, "well just win". But that’s not the case, they are going to boo immediately win or lose. This behavior is an unforeseen side effect of Sean Payton’s success. Sorry for the rant, but this behavior pisses me off, because it’s ultimately going to hurt the team. (For the record: Booing is OK if warranted, but that’s not the case I’m speaking of).

I don’t think they’re all necessarily toxic I think a big case of it is Jameis got typecasted as the problem and when they replaced him with another veteran he basically made it seem like he basically was supposed to fix the problem a rookie qb probably gets a lot more grace

Pro - Our defense is deep and talented at every level except for SS. I think Orji and Payton have a real chance to make this team. Both have consistently flashed.

Con - Turner, Foskey, and Howden look like more wasted draft capital.

Pro - Our running game will be fine without the ever absent Miller guy..... as long as TH7, AK, and JW can stay healthy and involved. Mims has enough to be a 4th option there if needed.

Pro - Our QB room is fine, and while Carr will never be more than a middle of the road starter.... He's good enough when things around him are good. JH and SR are both capable of being QB2 right now - but due to lack of experience - (like Carr) they both need things around them to be good.

Con - Most things around the QB on offense are just not good or NFL caliber. At the Skill Player level we have exactly 4 guys that can be consistent playmakers and game changers... Olave, Shaheed, AK, and TH7 - That's it... and should any of them miss time for any reason (Contract, Injury, Personal) The offense just can't score.

Con - Piggy backing on the point above - The Oline has exactly 1 high level NFL blocker with consistency, and that's McCoy. Penning is inconsistent at best, and a speed bump at worst... Fuaga, while promising, is a rookie about to be forced to play the toughest Oline spot in the NFL.... Ruiz is roller coaster every year - Up Down - and is likely playing out of position due to McCoy.... I have no idea who starts at LG... I assumed it would be the 2nd year player from Old Dominion - Nick Saldiveri... yet we have no idea if he's an actual NFL talent because he hasn't played... and we have near nothing behind that.... There is also little to no actual NFL caliber depth here anywhere... It's a pretty dire situation. A ton of things have to go our way just for this Oline to be serviceable.

Pro and Con - I assume the plan this year is to play great defense.... run the ball all day.... move the pocket.... and try to get chunk plays passing.... IMO... Kubiak better be the 2nd coming of Shanahan... or this is going to be another year of 14-10 type games that come down to long FGs and turnovers.... and how much I can watch before getting sleepy.

We had Jim Mora who could care less about scoring but gave us multiple seasons with 12, 13 wins. We have a defensive coach, he brought in help on offense, he didn’t keep the deadwood that Sean left behind. I don’t care if we don’t score like we used to if we play great defense and win 14-10 every game. 2000 Baltimore Ravens says hi.

So... the current year is 2024.... I am not talking about exceptions.... I am talking about the general rule of the current NFL... I love defense... but you have to score points on offense consistently if you plan on contending in the modern NFL... I am not spoiled... I am just being realistic.

Yeah, but he got the ball out quickly and had several nice passes too.

My thoughts watching him was that he had too much adrenaline running through him because he was playing professional football in front of his family & friends for the first time...

Also the OL didn't play well for him or Rattler...

Just went back and watched every rep of Jake’s, he only almost threw ONE pick. Terrible timing on the out and hit the DB right in the hands. Other than that the other one wasn’t his fault. It was a crossing route to the TE who was late getting his head around.

In all honesty he was a couple inches from winning the game when he missed the wide open receiver down field when he rolled to his right.

Carr is good in practice with a red jersey, watch out when it comes off....

Except the last 10 weeks of last season when he was statistically in the top 3 QBs in all of football and arguably the best QB in football the last month. Not opinion, it’s literally his stats and plenty of pieces written out there about it.

Is Carr Brees? Good lord, no. But man that guy takes a beating on this board and most refuse to acknowledge when he plays exceptionally well.

My issue with Carr is he just can’t throw people open or with much anticipation. He has to see the guy open first. Problem is 70% or more of the QBs in the game are like that, the very good or great ones have that skill, that’s part of what makes them great. However, he is definitely serviceable if the rest of your team does its job. He needs a good supporting cast, a clean pocket, and an effective gameplan. But, the fact that some just talk about him like he’s trash shows they have an agenda or just don’t understand the position.
