Randy Moss (2 Viewers)

Lane Kiffin tried to get some comments from him but he wouldn't take the new coach's call.

I think it would be interesting for him to be in black and gold but not necessary.

I pretty much agree with this. I don't think he's anywhere near T.O.'s league as far as being a jerk goes. I don't think Moss would be in the media all the time downing the organization or the coach or anything along those lines, as long as the Saints were winning. And I certainly think Moss still has what it takes on the field to be a big help.

But, I do think he would probably be the kind of constant, minor distraction that might not ever really blow up into a public spectacle, but would fester behind the scenes. Things like cards/dominoes/dice when it's not supposed to be going on, showing up to meetings when he wants, going 50% in practice or in the weight room, walking away while a coach is talking to him, little stuff like that that a different coach (Haslett) might look the other way rather than make it an issue. Payton though, I don't think is the "right" coach for a guy like that. And obviously, I'd take Payton over 10 Mosses.

And you're right, it's not necessary to chance it. Moss isn't incomparably good anymore, though I think he could still be very very good in the right circumstances (a winning team to "motivate" him and a coach who will let him get away with some of that stuff.) But the Saints certainly aren't in a position where they NEED a guy like Moss. No reason to risk it.

No but heck no. Why would you want to burden the character guys we now have on our team with trying to keep this headcase in check.

Bad idea.

When things get tough he quits: doesn't run out routes, doesn't block, pouts. He would have fit in with the Brokks era Saints: something goes wrong, everythingsnow balls downward. He's the last kind of player we should ever have on the Saints

Not NO but Hell MF'n NO. There will be plenty of Free Agent WRs to look at along with the Draft. We will bring in competition for the position. We don't want any Crybabies.

When's the last time you guys saw Moss in the news as being a distraction?

Only the entire season. Refusing to speak with his offensive coordinator, calling out offensive teammates to the media(and this guy was named captain of the offense, what a joke), griping at Art Shell, etc., etc.

I'd be ticked too if I had to play in an offense with a coordinator whose been out of football and running a bed and breakfast.

Do any of you truly believe Sean Payton would have a Randy Moss on this team? There is no way in this world Payton would take him.

I'd say no thanks. I'm not a real big Moss hater, its just why would we want that kind of distraction?

We all saw the product of a team coming together both on and off the field. There was chemistry on the field and leadership in the locker. Although there will be some new faces on this team next season, the core of it will remain in place.

There's no way I would take a guy like Moss and watch him tear down everything around you that this team worked (and still is working) so hard for. And I think Coach P wouldn't make that mistake either. There is no TEAM in Randy Moss' vocab. Never has been and never will be. God speed to the team that takes him.
