What was he thinking when he said this??? Publicist/Agent mandated apology soon followed
======================================================================

In an interview with Men’s Journal, Wahlberg discussed how he has stayed tough as he has matured. This somehow led to the actor — who was scheduled to be on one of the planes that crashed on Sept. 11, 2001 — to say this:

If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, “OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.”

This comment upset at least one family member of a 9/11 victim. A widow of a man who was aboard Flight 93 told TMZ, “For him to speculate that his presence on board could have stopped everything is silly and disrespectful.”.......................

Mark Wahlberg apologizes for saying he would have prevented plane crash on 9/11 - Celebritology 2.0 - The Washington Post

I have to agree with Mark here. He would have taken them all out and then landed the plane safely while the whole cabin sang "good vibrations" and watched Entourage.

(yes I know Entourage wasnt out in 2001)

I can't find a reason to be offended by this

The idea of Wahlberg stopping the whole thing is ludicrous, of course

But a guy who was scheduled to be on board an airplane that was used in the worst terrorist attacks in his country's history, liking to believe he could have stopped it if he got on board?

That's offensive?

Please.

i am offended that you are not offended

Why is noone asking the question,
"Is Markie Mark a terrorist?"

How did he know to get off that plane?
I've been terrorized by his movies for years.

All of what he said could be very well accurate if he had been on that plane, but it also doesn't mean they would have landed somewhere safely. Is he a pilot?

I think plenty of men could of overpowered the terrorists on that flight as they had only box cutters, its just that there was a lack of complete understanding of what was going on. There was some bloodshed, probably viewed by many as a control tactic but obviously there was a lack of communication on board with the passengers, and they believed that it was a simple hijacking and there was an element of surprise.

Nowadays, things would be much different, that we all would agree. Including Mark, but he is looking in hindsight. If he was on that flight in first class, he would have just laid low IMO, and waited things out.

You may have something there. He just made a movie on how to sneak stuff past customs and border control

Of course, it was set in New Orleans, and he didn't attempt a cheezy accent, so +100 for that

but who's the love interest?
this movie is not going get greenlit w/out a love interest

I hear that it's down to Katherine Heigl and Kate Beckinsale for the role of "hypothetical hot chick in hypothetical seat 17B"

The movie's climax will be Markie landing the plane with a separated shoulder and gunshot wound to the abdomen, then giving hypothetical girl in 17B a romantic kiss on the way down the emergency slide

Rumors have it that he'll go "weeeee" but Wahlberg has denied it

Chuck Norris performs a cameo as the police officer on the tarmac who starts the slow clap

Agreed.

It was a ridiculous thing to say and he's since acknowledged that and apologized.

It's also the sort of thing we've all heard guys say:

If I had been there, I'd have beat the __________

Just give me five minutes alone with that group of garbage and I'd ___________

If somebody ever threatened my wife or kids I'd ___________

He just happened to say it in a magazine interview.

If I had been the reporter and he said that to me, I'd have _____________
