I think our first field goal that just doinked in may have scared Dennis a bit, l know it did meWhy we didn’t attempt the 2 field goals when we were on the 40 yard line was another head scratcher
Agree. This was a bellwether game for me. Very similar to Green Bay week 3 last season. Hate to disappoint fans, but this team is still mediocre and will likely be 2-4.I'm sure a lot of folks said that after the Green Bay collapse in week 3 last year. Fumbling games that are gift-wrapped to you will always come back to bite you.
Even more concerning, our head coach is showing the same flaws with a lack of game awareness with his playcalling in end-of-game situations. The 3rd and 16 play-call was wildly bad and goes to show that he still continues to lack fundamental awareness late in games.
In the standings are we really that hurt? Probably not. But it's a greater concern that we aren't showing growth in that area.
My sentiments exactly. Dennis Allen has yet to win a critical game. Yesterday was pretty much identical to the Green Bay game last season and we failed, period. We're looking at 2-4 unfortunately and being mediocre until this team shakes its current identity of not being able to win big games against good teams. To see it in person was bad. With McCoy possibly out an extended period with a groin issue this is a different offense. Patrick was beaten terribly all game. Will he get better after practicing all week? I think so.
The more concerning thing is we got punched in the mouth all game and had no answer on defense. That was a bad display of football.
I thought this was a litmus test game for this team. We failed. Dallas looks like a bad team.
Let’s see what adjustments we make but you know the Falcons are going to watch a lot of tape offensively and defensively and be licking their chops.
We better figure it out quickly because if we go 2-2 then you are probably 2-3 after going to KC the next week.
Did you see how the OL performed at pass blocking? I may have run the ball every down. This was a weird game as both teams did their part in trying to lose. Some of those decisions made by the Eagles HC were total head scratchers. It's just that the Saints made their bad decisions at the end when it cost them the game.
For some reason, Jalen Hurts and that RPO offense always seems to give DA's defenses fits. His unit held up for the most part but you could feel that at any moment, it could break and it did. Allowing a 66 yard TD run to break the game open.
However, the lost is really on the offense. Kubiak, for some reason, was locked in on forcing the run and that cost them big time. It stalled drives and prevented them from taking advantages of a blocked punt and a turnover at midfield in the 1st half. It kept putting the defense back on the field and giving Hurts too many opportunities. They left points on the field with those mistakes and it was very frustrating watching that unfold continuously. I didn't get at the time and I still don't get what they were trying to do now.
But whatever, 2-1 and move on to Atlanta.
That's pretty much what they did and look at the result. You can negate the rush by throwing more on 1st down, which they refused to do. I'm sure McCoy going down had a lot to do with the blocking schemes failing in protection.Did you see how the OL performed at pass blocking? I may have run the ball every down.
Eagles still have some work to do but I expect them to be one of the top teams in the NFC as soon as they’re healthy. At least we weren’t blown out exposed. Even operating at 50% effective offensively we still played arguably the best team in the NFC down to the wire. Unlike Dallas that’s been blow out two weeks in a row
So you think Atlanta(which most people had winning the division)is going to lose their first 3 home games? I wouldn't bet on it.Have you not figured out by now that I don’t care about on paper discussions? Situations are far more predictive, which is why I never play the math-up game when betting.
This week was a bad spot. Next week isn’t. I know people want it to be more complicated, but it’s not.
Did you bet on us starting 2-0?So you think Atlanta(which most people had winning the division)is going to lose their first 3 home games? I wouldn't bet on it.
