I think it’s more likely they put an 8th seed so they can make up a national game without having to put on Chiefs/Bengals.

Yep. And some lucky NFC team will also get into the playoffs just to get the right balance of playoff teams this year.

Everyone here is still trying to figure out if such an adjustment to this year’s postseason could possibly produce a formula where the Saints to get that 8th seed.

They don't even have to win the Super Bowl. Just imagine if the 8th seed in the NFC knocks out the 1 seed in the first round. This whole situation doesn't even have anything to do with the NFC.

Yea but to make it fair the NFC would have to have the same format. NFC #1 seed in Super Bowl vs AFC team with no bye is not fair since NFC team had that bye week to rest some.

If the teams don't want to finish the game, just declare it a draw, and let the playoff berths fall where they may.

This makes the most sense. No one on either team seemed to want to play (understandably) so it should just be recorded as a tie.

Not sure where you’re seeing that. PA said the NFL has not mentioned that to them.
