The New Orleans Saints hosted Notre Dame tight end Alize Mack on a predraft visit, per Josh Norris of Rotoworld and NBC Sports. This is just one of a few fly-in visits the Saints are reported to have scheduled in New Orleans so far, with the 2019 NFL Draft just four weeks away.
Mack isn’t often put in the conversation with the elite tight end prospects in this year’s draft class — names like Noah Fant and T.J. Hockensen, or Kahale Warring and Irv Smith Jr. But he’s a well-rounded athlete, timing the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds at 6-foot-4, 249 pounds. He also recorded a 36-inch vertical jump and 120-inch broad jump. That suggests strong lower-body explosion to go with competent long speed; given his 80 1/8-inch wingspan, that’s a big, fast target for quarterback Drew Brees to potentially work with.
