Not at all surprised the show got cancelled. It was only a matter of time before she would do something dumb enough to make ABC pull the plug on this show

I never liked the original either and rarely watched it. (only when I happened to be at a friends house who had it on) After the disgusting national anthem she did I flat refused to ever watch anything she did. I was shocked that ABC/Disney brought the show back but still refused to watch it and it had nothing to do with politics, I don't like her, never have and never will.

I think they brought it back because 2 channels have it playing all the time, Laff and TV Land. I know that Laff channel often has 2-4 hour blocks of the original run going, but they alternate with That 70's Show.

I didn't mind the original run because it was good IMO to see a struggling family make it through daily life. I was only a kid at the time, but I know my mom struggled with some of the same issues they did when I was growing up. I have been able to disconnect Roseanne the character from Roseanne the actual person, so it wasn't that bad to me. The new series has been ok simply because the surrounding cast was better. Too bad she couldn't keep her foot out of her mouth. They were one of the highest rated prime time shows and were renewed for another season.

they'll hawk as many new shows as they can

Certain shows can handle it. Cheers with Frasier. Breaking Bad with Better Call Saul. All In The Family not only had spinoffs but spinoffs of the spinoffs.
Luckily for the writing staff, Roseanne wasn't the only developed character on the show.
