Ross Jackson explores a Carr trade to Giants [ESPN NFL Nation Giants reporter Jordan Raanan says Derek Carr could be a trade option for Giants] (2 Viewers)

Unless the plan is to bomb next year, that's not a good move, especially without an HC. I'm okay with sucking next year to get us our future QB.
I would agree with letting the HC decide, I doubt any serious trade talks will take place until a coach is in place.

It just seems like it will be hard to get good draft comp for him because of his no trade clause and because his salary becomes guaranteed a few days into the league year. The Raiders tried to trade Carr, and he waited until he was released to sign with us rather than let the Raiders get any draft pick comp from his future team.

I'd be truly surprised -- pleasantly, of course -- if even a QB-needy team like the Giants gave up actual draft picks for a mid-at-best Carr. But, hey, come on down and bid on the showcase if you want to, Giants! :) Granted, we're fairly QB-needy as well. No transcendent QBs available this year, and so here we are with the current roster's bunch.

This is bizarre, consider:
1. Carr has a no trade clause. He used it to his advantage with the Raiders, there is no reason to think he won't do it with the Saints.

2. Carr will only restructure, he has said as much. That means his contract isn't going away easily.

3. No team or specifically GM is going to be dumb enough for an Osweiler or Watson type trade. If they want to keep their job that is. Certainly not for the level of play Carr represents.

4. The Saints are in (roughly) the same position that the Raiders were at the end of his time there. All that cheering about how (paraphrasing) "he was just let go and the Saints didn't give up any picks! Hah suck it Raiders!" That position is EXACTLY where the Saints and the fans are now.

5. Given point 4 just what is the market for Carr? Its a very strong contention that the Saints were competing against themselves last time. Jets? Wasn't happening. Just was the market for Carr last time? (crickets.)

Now? even worse. There is (likely) less of a market and now coming off season ending injuries? If people are talking about a tiny market for Darnold? There probably is even less for Carr.

6. If a team is interested, why won't they do what the Saints did and just wait and not have to give up anything? The Saints stupidly gave him a no trade clause AND extended him. The Saints have zero leverage in this situation and Carr knows it.

7. The New York media would be brutal with him and going back to his time with the Raiders he didn't handle criticism well. If people want to argue that is inaccurate? OK. Then does anyone see him handling the cauldron of NY sports media well? I don't. Imagine him on the receiving end of the criticism leveled at Jones.

I really don't see a team that is going step in to save the Saints FO from it's own stupidity.
I think the Saints have some leverage regarding a possible trade. If Carr agrees to waive his no trade clause, he gets to keep his full salary.

If the Saints cut him, he’ll be playing on a one year prove it deal like Russell Wilson.

If he’s released, him and his agent can market his services and show teams what he “put on tape”

We need to remember who the other quarterbacks on the roster are. And let’s consider the quality of the quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft.

Making the playoffs (winning your division) is every team's goal to start with... anything can happen from there.
2011 Giants won the SB after going 9-7 in the regular season.
All 12 years of Carr's career his apologists have been saying that. If we continue to kick the can down the road with Carr then it will always be "next year we are going to be the 9-7 giants from 13 years ago.

Carr is the goat that wasn't according to his lovers because everyone around him is terrible besides him.

The key is “if he waives his no trade clause.”

What makes you think he will?

I already addressed that.

If he waives his no trade clause, he gets to get keep his current contract which pays him 30 million in base salary in 2025.

If he gets cut and signs one year deal elsewhere, he’ll probably get paid something similar to what Sam Darnold got last year (10 million) with the Vikings.

The amount of Carr hate on here. Maybe we would have won more games this year if we signed a big player last off-season instead of Chase Young, Cedric Wilson, and some other randoms. This isn't Brees' Saints anymore. This division can be won with game breakers. Unless those two QBs become Cam 2.0.

Makes sense, if you recall his behavior after the game. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was the catalyst in itself that got the process started that week for Allen to be fired.

When you have a stalwart, fun-loving player like that behaving the way Jordan did then demanding a trade, that’s going to raise some eyebrows.
In the article, Jordan says he didn't go the route of asking for a trade. He thought about it, but he and his agent decided it wasn't the best way to go.

Stop wit the #3 pic , yall got dreams be happy with a 4th or 5 th round and get rid cf his contract

Yep, the saints have some leverage. They can ask him to waive it. If he says no, then the saints could reply, well, you can ride the bench the next season, go with a QB the mike Mcarthy wants wether on the roster already, low cost vet, or trade for a2nd year rookie riding the pine. But he can hold the clip board and waste a year of his career.
