Would you guys welcome a HC Mike McCarthy and OC Jon Gruden possibility?

Hard core fans are just as suspectible to emotion and unreasonable expectations as casuals. Maybe even more so. And Cowboy fans in particular tend to have unreasonable expectations because they had one of the few dynasties to exist in the NFL and they think it is their right to have another one and any coach that does not establish a dynasty in Dallas is terrible.
Similar things are true about Green Bay fans who are spoiled to have consecutive great QBs and a history of winning Championships.
I'm not saying McCarthy is the best coach in the league and he's not top 5. I'm not even saying he's definitely the right HC for the Saints. But, he's a very good coach with a very high win percentage over his career and lots of success in the playoffs including one Super Bowl. But, none of that is going to matter to Cowboy fans, especially the older and more hardcore ones, because that success did not happen in Dallas and to them it's either win several Super Bowls in a short period of time or you aren't good enough to coach the Cowboys. Some of our fans have become like that, although without any real justification given our history.
Gotta dig deeper. GB constantly found themselves in championship games playing in awful weather at home against great defenses or on the road playing against great SF defenses. Losing multiple OT games and/or last second field goal games.
Lady Luck just kept going against them at the worst moments or they kept running into the exact wrong team that was on a SB mission.
Sound familiar? Remind you of another head coach that I’m sure you’d still take to this day because you know he’d at least get you in position consistently?

I persist because it's true and you keep saying he struggled in the playoffs.
Very fair point. I completely forgot they lost in the NFC championship to the falcons the year 28-3 happened. The only other time they made the playoffs they lost to Carolina in the divisional round
But again I'm only going back to 2016. None of em were OT games losing to SF defenses. Against the Atlanta they got blown out. Its not like they were just getting unlucky. Even with Carolina it didn't go to OT. But your point still stands. I completely blew over that 2017 year. Thanks for making me check my memory and look into it.
It's hard keeping things accurate going back 10 years
I think you are just dug in, brother.
I poke fun at the Cowboys fan base more than anybody - but I can also tell you, you’re not shooting 100% to say they are “all irrational”. You are allowed to feel what you feel, and your mind isn’t gonna change about Mike McCarthy. I will continue to think he’s the John Calipari of the NFL. I guess we will see where it lands this cycle.
appearing 3 different years in the playoffs and only winning 1 game is struggling.
Its amusing to me that you don't consider it so, when we're 3-1 over two years against the Falcons im quite sure you would say they struggle to beat the Saints.

Should the Chiefs have fired Reid after appearing three different years in the playoffs and only winning one game?appearing 3 different years in the playoffs and only winning 1 game is struggling.

He absolutely has underachieved with Dallas in the playoffs. Wild to suggest otherwise. Only playoff win was to a team with a losing record.
2021 - Lost at home as the 3 seed to the 6 seed.
2022 - Beat the Bucs as the 5 seed. Bucs were 8-9 and won the NFC S. Beat by SF in round 2.
2023 - Lost as the 2 seed to the 7 seed.
I don’t understand how anyone would suggest that’s not disappointing..
Why is there a cut-off? Previous years don’t fit the narrative well enough?
NFL changes way too much to go back 15 years ago. The game today is played quite differently. I tend to never go back more then 5-7 years.
We don’t have to look any further then the QB position and how it’s played, and how it’s effected playcalling to see how drastic the changes are.
I said careers, not players. Keep misquoting me. You're not slow; this happens all the time with contracts. You said my contract wasn't renewed, but the company says we fired him. If you were such a valuable asset, the contract would have been renewed. He had a non-playoff year, and Jerry tried to lowball him. He would have gotten a new deal if they had made the playoffs or won the division. Kinda like Drake seeking a new deal after K-dot whipped him.So do you think a player got fired if a team lets him become a free agent instead of signing him to a new contract?
