Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (5 Viewers)

His contract is essentially for this year only and we aren't one player away from making waves in the playoffs even if we were fortunate enough to make it that far. It makes zero sense to give up future assets for a year that we won't be in contention.
Just not true, we are a collision of 3 DBs and a DPI away from being 4-0 halfway through the toughest part of our schedule. The OL did not play that badly with 2 starters out. If we had Adams I would bet $ we win this last game. There is no runaway favorite in the NFC we have almost as good a chance to win it as anyone, We get Adams, and our chances just went up by 40%

Not only is DC here but Keith Williams is our WR coach , He recruited him at Fresno St. and is like a 2nd father to Adams
Yep. And for all those saying NYJ are the frontrunner bc of Rodgers, consider Rodgers will be 41 in December. How many years does he have left to tie yourself to?

The Jets high score game is 24 points twice, 19, and 9. They are only averaging 19 points per game.

Saints have scored over 40 twice.

The Kamara/Hill factor.
Saints could/should be undefeated. Jets can't say that.

Everyone realizes that. But McCoy likely won't be back for 7 weeks and who knows if he will be back by then or when he will be healthy enough to return to the form he had when he got hurt.
6-8 weeks as of last wk so he could be back in 5. Plus we do not see Carter again unless maybe in the playoffs. We have 1 great DT to face and that's Mon. night in Jones. Our OL did not do that bad last wk. Besides just because we trade 3 or even a 2 for Adams it does not mean we can't get OL in the 1st 2 rnds of the draft

There seems to be a faction of fans here that believe unless you are cut and above, one of the best rosters assembled, with no weaknesses, built for super stardom and a 15-2/14-3 record, then you are not a “contender.”

Contending is a function of who you are competing with, and to me, the teams we are competing with are all essentially the same as us, except for MAYBE the 49ers if they were healthy.

We may not look like a contender on paper based on what we are used to as a NFC contender standard, but in 2024, our current roster assembled, specifically if you add a superstar like Adams, is the epitome of a contender.

I promise you, if we add Adams, all the talking heads will be talking about how we may have just made ourselves the team to beat in the NFC, because it is WEAK.
LOL Pigs have flown. I agree with everything you have said in this thread

This little item exposes just how little research the talking heads on ESPN, etc. do. Basically all of them yammering off the top of their heads saying the Jets are a lock and that the Saints as a target doesn't even make any sense. Not a single one of them seems to know about the tie to Keith Williams, much less how strong it is. Just clueless people running their mouths trying to prove how insightful they are when, in fact, they haven't done any of their homework, and are just proving how ill equipped they are for the job they have when they open their mouths.

And it doesn't matter where Adams ends up; what matters is they don't know all the facts so they are making opinions based basically on nothing.

He wouldn't fix all our problems, but he definitely fixes a major one and that's not having a big time threat on offense. I'm not sure how these things work but if we could get him before Monday night that'd be awesome.

Didn’t know this. I really think he will be a Saint.
Keith Williams is the key.

Huh…… “IF” hiring Keith Williams was a calculated move, with the hopes of eventually getting Adams……or to keep future hope, by the one who wields the red sharpie, then I would venture out and say that is a masterful chess move. Although I don’t think the red sharpie holds that much intellectual prowess

As much as I would love to get him, I would rather we trade for a OL than a luxury pick like Adams. In fact we could trade for D. Hopkins or John Metchie for way less and get the same production.
This is an extremely abnormal situation where you have an all pro Wr that’s requiring to go to the Saints or Jets. And it’s a position of need for both teams. This wouldn’t even be a discussion if Carr or Rogers wasn’t the QB. But the Saints have the advantage because of Keith Williams. So if you’re the Saints, you have to find a way to make it happen.

We need to get back to what we want to be good at. And that's running the ball early and often to set up the pass. Once the eagles exposed us, we turned into a 3 yard per carry team from a 5 or 6 yard per carry team. Pete Carmichael would've been proud. The last two games we had to depend on DC4 to get things done. And that's exactly what we tried to get away from, over-reliance on the Qb. We currently have no margin of error. Projecting KC: I think we improve running the ball considering that our oline seems OK w/ Shane Limeaux. But i still don't see over 4 yards a carry. We'll have a lot of 2nd & 7 and 3rd and longs. Adding Adams could give Carr a sure handed WR catching quick passes over the middle, (how we would use MT). We can use the short passing game to set up the run, then the run to set up the chunk. As it stands, we need another playmaker on Offense to help offset our weakened but improving oline.
THE reason we had issues on the OL in the Philly game is that McCoy went down early. Mike Detillier wrote an article that when a C goes down in game they lose 70% of the time. We ran for 133yds and a 5.2 avg against ATL. with 2 starting O linemen out and with 1 wk of practise.
