The New Orleans Saints will meet up with Louisiana Tech defensive end Jaylon Ferguson and put him through a workout ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft, per Sean Fazende of FOX8 New Orleans. Ferguson has been a force for the Bulldogs ever since he stepped on campus in 2015, eventually breaking Terrell Suggs’ NCAA record with 45 sacks in his four-year career. Ferguson was also wildly productive against the run, recording 67.5 tackles for loss of yards.
Per Pro Football Focus charting, Ferguson recorded the fifth-most quarterback pressures among FBS pass rushers last year, with 64 — including 16 sacks. And he accomplished that with 100 fewer attempts than other players in the top five. His 13.1 pass-rush productivity rating, measuring his effectiveness on a per-snap basis, was second-best in the entire draft class. Ferguson can play.
