Saints @ Denver (1 Viewer)

the great thing about Denver is their light rail system. Stops include the Park Meadows mall (which is an amazing mall...with normal, decent stores), Coors Field (which sends you to downtown), Pepsi center/Elitch Gardens, and Invesco (which like u said is near Red Lion). The place to go in Denver when visiting is probably the 16th Street Mall...which is an outdoor stretch of great stores, including one of the best ESPN Zone's in the country.
I'm hoping to be at the game since I live in south suburban Denver. You could use Craigslist for tickets along with superbtix.

Hey, thanks for the tips! Since the purpose of my trip is for my brother's bachelor party (w/ the game as part of that weekend), I'd say I'll spend more time in brewpubs and such than shopping malls.

Here is some things I have thought of, being born and raised in Denver.

September 21st, the weather will be spectacular. Mid 70's and sunny (typically) we have 300 days of sunshine and that is our dryest season. Plenty to do with the family if you are making it a family vacation- the aspens will be turning so the mountains will be beautiful.

I have tickets for the game (no extras sorry), if you need them Craigslist or stubhub are great online place to find bronco tickets- also scalping is not illegal in Denver so people stand outside and sell tickets. I also work with a bunch of Broncos season ticket holders, and I will see if I can grab a couple sets- if I do I will post them....

Stay out of the South End Zone, if possible. This is where the crazies are and they will make your life hell- and not in a fun and games kind of way.

The best thing to do for games- especially if you are planning on staying in a hotel, is stay a bit away and ride the Light Rail, hotel will be much cheaper. It is only $3.50 and will take you to LoDo ( the main bar and restaurant district) and also has a stop right in front of Mile High.

A great site for Denver- stuff to do, places to go- is 5280.com. this is the city's magazine, which has the best restaurants and such. A good place for nightlife is westword.com it shows all the local happenings. I will list more as I remember them.

I am willing to help get a SR tailgate going at either the stadium or my house which ever would be better. I have enough grill equipment for a big event and I would love meeting and hanging out with you guys. This is only going to be the second time I have ever seen the Saints and I cant wait!!!

Geaux Saints!

Me and 5 of my friends are going to this game. We will arrive Friday and leave monday. We paid $214 for air fare roundtrip. Hopefully we can get a lot of people to go to this one.

Thanks for the info coolbrees,i'm interested in the tailgate info .You can pm me if you like.first time in denver and i have been looking on the denvercitysights.com,Found some good info opn restorants i.e. bighose bbq and staekhouse.Any thoughts? have you hear of it? what about pappadeaux?

Awesome info Coolbrees. Being a very recent New Orleans transplant in denver, I can't wait for this game. I'm definitely interested in any tailgating info.

Gummbo...Pappadeaux's isn't bad, its the closest thing to new orleans food i've found in my short time here. I would definitely try some of the steakhouses in the area for nice buffalo steaks.

Yeah Papadeaux is not bad for cajun in the mountains- but for you all that probably isnt real close :). there is a place on Alameda and Logan called Luciles. Does a cajun brunch that is out of this world- I have an LSU friend that said it is as close to authentic as you will find this far west, lol . But give yourself time, cause it can be packed.

Gummbo- I think you meant the Buck Horn Steakhouse, and if that is the case then yes, it is definitely worth going to. It is on 8th- has a light rail stop- and serves everthing from steaks and buffalo, to rattlesnake and osterich, and yes, the infamous Rocky Mountain Oysters. If you dont know what Rocky Mountain Oysters are, ask first- let's just say they have nothing to do with shellfish.

As far as any other help; tailgate, getting accomodations, etc. Let me know and as we get closer I will get some stuff set up for the game.

DenverSaint- where abouts do you live?

Hi coolbrees,Thanks for the grear info.Buck horn sounds like alot of fun,but i think i misspelled the name,It's called big hoss b.b.Q.&steakhouse,On tennyson st.Have you heared of it?My buddy and I get in on sat @around 11AM.Maybe we can meet for lunch at one of the places you mentioned.we are staying @ the curtis hotel.(how is this place in refrence to the places you mentioned?PS 121 days left till game time ,GEAUX SAINTS WHO DAT!!!!:9:

i will be up there with 10 to 20 guys for the weekend cant wait to rock the moutains

Gummbo-

The Curtis is cool. Walking distance to MileHigh if you are able bodied and the weather is nice (less than a mile). There is a great Mexican place right near you, called Tomatillo (i think). You are also right next to the 16th Street Mall, which is an open air mall. There is a free bus that runs up and down, and takes you to the light rail, which is really convenient for you.

The restaurant that you mentioned, I have never been to- so I cant tell you much (sorry). Where you are, in respect to the city, is within walking distance of pretty much everything.

Someone mentioned the Rockies. I hate the Rockies, but Coors field is really nice (brewery in the Stadium- that is a full bar as well.) You can get Rockpile tickets for really cheap and they are Denver's version of the bleachers at Wrigley.

Some of the good bars: If you are a beer man (like me) you must go to the Falling Rock TapHouse, on 19th and Blake. THey have over 60 beers on tap, and more than that in the bottle- and a great patio. Good sports bar downtown is the BlakeStreet Tavern, or The Sports Column. Theses are all in LODO (lower downtown) right next to Coors Field.

If you are looking for a good Brewery, The Breckenridge Brewery is just north of Coors Field. The best breweries are not in Denver, rather they are in Boulder, Fort Collins and in the mountains. My personal favorite is in a little town called Idaho Springs. If you have some time and a car, it is in the mountains only about 30 minutes from Denver. The brewery is call the TommyKnocker Brewery. It is small, and the bar is in the same room as the brewery kettles and the bottling area- which is really cool. Plus their food is out of sight.

I will try to link some more stuff as I think about it. I am really looking forward to the game. I cant wait to meet a lot of you!
