According to Vitt, Ingram, who had arthroscopic knee surgery 10 days ago, won’t be ready to fully go when the team starts training camp this summer. He expects him to be up to full speed by the start of the season, but Jeff Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the team will “back off” Ingram until he’s 100 percent recovered.

The knee scope was the second surgery for Ingram since the calender turned to 2012. He also had surgery to fix the turf toe problem that cut his rookie season short. It’s also the second surgery on his left knee, it was operated on while Ingram was at Alabama, and the combination of the three feeds any durability concerns you might have about Ingram going forward.

We can just do reverse of last year, start off with Ivory, finish with Ingram!

Not overly concerned with this. I hope they take their time and ease Ingram back, really no need to rush. Between Ingram and Ivory we should have a pure power back the entire season.

Letting Ivory be the work horse to start the season might not be a bad idea. That guy is such a monster. If only he could stay healthy! :crossfingers:

The Saints have the luxury of being able to give Ingram as much time as he needs because of our depth at the position. But we will need him as our O will need to focus even more on running the ball well, as every team is going to be attempting to key on our passing game with a record breaking year's worth of tape at thier disposal.

Watching Earl Campbell on youtube and Ivory actually is a little similar with his speed and power combination. Ingram can take his time and actually EARN some playing time while Ivory gets the bulk if the carries.

we let a very good back go last year that showed a lot of promise. I was high on Ingram after we drafted him but he's shown me nothing that any one of our other backs can't do. PT/Ivory/Sproles is our winning combination.

Guys, lets relax a little on the Ingram hate. He was a rookie with a shortened rookie off-season. He was playing stronger every game as it passed. We also didn't use a lot of imagination with his early play selection. In the first couple of games it was short yardage straight ahead.

Ivory was a rookie and would have had a 1000 yards if not for injury .
