Saints don’t think Mark Ingram will be 100 percent when camp starts (1 Viewer)

You might want to check again...Ingram is our starting back and if he is hurt..PT gets the start. Sproles is the third down utility guy and Ivory brings power and speed as teh 4th back...when Ingram went down Ivory took over the heavy lifting though PT and Sproles worked there magic most of the game until it was time to bring in Ivory to run the clock out....ypc is not an indication of who is the starting back...Coaches make that decision not ypc averages and Payton annointed Ingram his lead back.

In our O, it doesnt matter who the starting back is. You can start MI, CI or PT. I think SP liked having the Is starting over PT to see what the opposing D is doing and at the same time, keeping PT fresh to counter what they are doing (And BTW, CI did start 2 games late in the season over PT). Also, because neither CI or MI were pretty much 1or 2 down backs, they were better to start games as pure runners. And the Saints, with either I in the game on early downs, would give a heavy run look and go playaction from time to time.

.....in our offense...yeah I get it, we are versatile...but there is a starting back, just like there are starting recievers a starting tight end, starting offensive lineman...sure we have packages, but there are clear starters.

If Tusk could pick up the Blitz and Catch AND stay healthy (hopefully he continues to improve here, I love the guy), he would be an amazing back (and probably would have been drafted). He does have a niche on the Saints because of the things he does do well (i.e. hit guys so they feel like they kissed a freight train), not to mention depth.

PT is our best all around back. Sproles is simply incredible. Ingram/Ivory fill different needs, and in their own ways, have made our backfield the envy of many a team.

OK CI (Chris Ivory)...Now is your time with PT and Sproles to shine. Let go get it!!
