Article Saints Execs love Spencer Rattler per ESPN’s Matt Miller (127 Viewers)

The vagabond got Chipotle his first day in the city....that was a bad omen and since then it has plagued my mind.

How can you eat Chipotle in NEW ORLEANS?!

He could've got freaking Popeyes or a Meat Pie or anything but Chipotle...a freaking chili cheese hot dog would be better than Chipotle in NEW ORLEANS
The fact that I’m reading this and also know that there are many others who agree with this just shows how not serious way too many fans are.

I don’t think Carr is the answer but I don’t have to create ways to hate him to validate my feelings.

Carr is not horrible and at this point, a much better QB than Rattler but it’s time to rebuild and he’s not the QB to build around but this has nothing to do with the food he chooses to eat.

Which is totally unwarranted. All because he's not Drew Brees.
I would say that is just one factor in why he is not liked. His whole career he has never been a beloved guy. If you listen to big podcasts like Pardon My Take, he has been the butt of the joke for years. If you watched him on Hard Knocks, he was very cringey.

Now he comes into NOLA. He’s not involved in the community much from what I’ve seen. Football wise, he is making mistakes and noticeably showing up his teammates (McCoy, Olave, etc.). His head coach is not holding him accountable and enabling this attitude of Carr’s. Then you have Mike Thomas. Say what you will of Mike Thomas, but that dude gave his heart to the city.He spent free time hanging out with kids in the hospital. He did everything he could to get Drew Brees another Super Bowl. When he started calling Carr out, that just added more to the pile.

Sometimes I feel bad for Carr, because the hate from some fans is too much. But some of the negative attitude he has received from fans is not without reason.

I hear you, but they are also the same execs that have done a lot of good things for this team in the now more distant past. They are here regardless. Better they like the young QB making peanuts that they feel the need to go sign Sam Darnold on a deal with a bunch of void years.
Of course the bean counters want to save money. I hope the new coach brings in talent behind Carr. A solid young qb to groom for a season. I like Dart.

You can tell that from 6 starts with a beat up offensive line, nobody WRs, virtually no running back support, and being coached by Dennis Allen? Wow.
Yeah its amazing how so many have their mind made up on him despite the situation he was put in. I saw a lot of good things from him. Lets not act like Chicago and throw countless rookies into a bad system and blame the rookie for not doing well.

He’s got a nuclear weapon for an arm and has tremendous ball placement.

He misses some open throws but I attribute that to his youth.

His escapability is an asset though I wouldn’t exactly call him mobile.

I liken him to Russell Wilson , who knows if he can get to that level.
He has some effortless arm talent and that flashes. He wasnt very good. He cant handle pressure looks. Tampa in that first game he played figured that out at half time. Never moved the ball again that game. And teams copied that. His hot route ball was shat. Could he improve, sure and theres plenty of talent to develop.but hes not close or guy just needs some reps. He needs alot of work.

No team is giving up on a number one overall pick after one year
Most of you all are missing the point... Of course the Cowboys FO wasn't going to give up on Aikman after his rookie season...

But there was lots & lots of grumblings from Cowboy fans that Aikman was a draft bust after his rookie season and even some after his 2nd season...
He wasn't Roger Staubauch...

It is a good thing NFL FO don't listen to fans!

Can the Saints get out from under this contract in 2025?

This would be outstanding for us to have cap space in order to be able to rebuild with our new HC!

I would much rather Carr than Rattler if money wasn't an issue. But money is an issue, and we need to bite the bullet and cut Carr. Spencer is on a rookie contract, let him show us if he has anything next year and if not, then cool, we are rid of him and Carr's contract
I wish it was that easy. Contract are complicated, at least for the common fan base like myself. If any team willing to take on the contract, I would be happy. I like Carr, and I feel he is unjustily hated and criticized. But I am in favor of looking into our future goal and I don't think he is part of the plan.

I'm not one of the Carr haters on this forum...
We are in a rebuild with a new coach & Carr's, Hill's, & Jordan's salaries are a detriment to us rebuilding.

The truth is none of us know what Kellen Moore wants to do about our QB situation...
Stay with an above average veteran or break in a young QB...

We will find out after the Super Bowl.

He has NFL starter talent and absolutely no give up in him. These are the 2 things I know for sure about Spencer. The 2 questions that he needs to answer are…. Can he learn and play within an offense….? And given some blocking and talent, can he make good decisions and distribute the ball?

We have not been able to get the answer to those up to this point. Because he was a rookie playing with backups.
I would like to see him with all the starters instead of 3rd stringers and someone off the street. We don’t need to draft a QB, we have too many needs. We will have to build through draft since Mickey keeps kicking the can down the road,

One of the truly frustrating things about last year, is given the circumstances.....injuries, coaching upheaval, etc.....I really don't think we know what we have in Rattler yet.....unless we somehow trade or cut Carr I would like to see an open QB competition with Carr and Rattler, and let the coaches determine who the starter will be.....
