Article Saints Execs love Spencer Rattler per ESPN’s Matt Miller (30 Viewers)

I would not be surprised to see Carr either agree to a trade or be cut with a June 1 designation. While the team has to pay for his roster bonuses regardless, he is only guaranteed $10 million more in new money. He will likely want to land somewhere where more can be made in new money long term. It won't help him if he is being demoted a new coach while the team is in transition. It's being said that the team will be patient with that new coach while the roster gets squared away. That would likely mean some roster upheaval with some bigger names going away. Veteran players like Jordan and Demario are more valuable as player coaches at their positions than someone like Carr.
Doesn't all this have to happen before 3/13? . There's no way if DC is on the roster this yr that Moore plays SR and benches DC. That sends a " We're not trying to win this yr" message to everyone , including players and why play hard if we are not trying to win? That would never fly with our FO or any other FO

It's actually 3/15 for Carr. That is when his $30 million salary is guaranteed for the year. And no, I don't think the message it sends is "we're not trying to win this year". It sends the message that the window that the team believed was once open is now closed. Players aren't stupid. They know that the team has been extending itself. That won't take away from prideful players and coaches trying to win. They'll just have to work a bit harder for it. And if there are players that feel that way, then they can go too.

Interesting comparison with Wilson. Wilson is the ultimate team guy, the guy exudes team this team that, go Hawks. This type of player gets the best out of his team. I’m not sure if Rattler is the same in that aspect. Rattler is more of a pure thrower than Wilson.
Wilson put some absolute darts on guys in his time. Lockett was special with him.

I hope Carr agrees to be traded and we get something back for him. There has been a lot of buzz of us trading for the Patriots QB Joe Milton III. I am still upset with Haener with the PED issue his rookie year.

I get where your going, but your terminology is all wrong.

"

Now saying that, a lot of things have to go right for him to even get close to his potential.

It's def possible, but i can def understand the pessimism.

Next year could tell us a lot about Rattlers trajectory.

2nd year for a young qb can give an idea on the expectations going forward. Many successful qbs in history showed huge improvement from their first to second years.

We will see!

Crossing fingers, hoping for the best
"With his tools his ceiling is all pro MVP level. He has a freakishly gifted arm." ????? This is a guy that was drafted in the 5th round!!!! That is WAY an overstatement. He got a good arm, not great and lacks touch and accuracy. His footwork is below par and he makes poor decisions. He has some potential but many because he has a good arm. It's not Josh Allen good or even Herbert good

Loomis drafted him what else would the front office say about our QB situation
SMH when will people understand that Loomis does NOT draft people the HC and the scouting dept draft the players. This ridiculousness need to stop. Loomis is not sitting on some throne and saying " I like this DE because he has a great 3 cone time, I don't care what you guys say I'm drafting him"

Really, do you not know how the Saints run their draft ???

I don't think he'll ever be a NFL starter. Saints need to go get their QB in rd 1 or 2 at the latest and stop farting around with prospects in rd 3-5.

The same complaints we have against DC now are the same complaints the Raiders fans had back then. Rattler is a 5th round QB that is not ready to be an every day starter. I could be wrong but he will never be a franchise QB that will lead a team to the SB. If Rattler was to start next season, he would probably be the 4th best starter in the NFC South with a close running to Bryce Young of the Panthers. The Saints should consider other options at the QB moving forward.
