Saints Execs love Spencer Rattler (164 Viewers)

I just don’t see it. I think his ceiling is Case Keenum-ish.

He’s got a nuclear weapon for an arm and has tremendous ball placement.

He misses some open throws but I attribute that to his youth.

His escapability is an asset though I wouldn’t exactly call him mobile.

I liken him to Russell Wilson , who knows if he can get to that level.

He has NFL starter talent and absolutely no give up in him. These are the 2 things I know for sure about Spencer. The 2 questions that he needs to answer are…. Can he learn and play within an offense….? And given some blocking and talent, can he make good decisions and distribute the ball?

We have not been able to get the answer to those up to this point. Because he was a rookie playing with backups.

I don't know how recent this comment is but I recall this being stated when they named him starter when Carr got injuried earlier in the year.

I like a lot of what I’ve seen. But hopefully they’ll trust Moore to make the final evaluation and not push anything on him.

They love everybody they draft, it's kinda like asking Mick what he thinks of Allen. The guy is a 5th QB, let's stop playing this game. He may be able to get better but I'm not making long term plans based on Ratt.

I like his potential a lot but would not be willing to name him "the guy" yet. What I like most about him was his poise under pressure. He wasn't always able to make the plays, but he kept his eyes downfield looking for targets even when he was on the run. He wasn't able to elevate the guys around him enough to win games as a rookie but I feel like he would have been more successful with a better supporting cast than he had. I also like how he improved more and more with every game. That is from looking more at the first halves of games and less when he was throwing riskier passes while trying to come from behind.

If I had my choice, he would be the penciled in starter for 2025 and draft a rookie in the 2nd or later to compete with him. More experience and good coaching would do a lot for him. If he ends up washing out, then QB would be the draft target in 2026.

I also think it would be interesting to see a OC design an offense around Rattler's abilities as opposed to this year when he had to play in an offense designed around Derek Carr. And Carr and Rattler are obviously very different QBs.

Underhill has said before that Rattler has fans in the front office. Not sure if that means they will move on from Carr this year or not, but I do think it's possible if the new HC wants to give Rattler a shot.

Here is how i see it. Who was more productive at QB with the same players or lack thereof Derek Carr or Spencer Rattler?? Wasn't Rattler 0-6? Say what you want about #4 but he's the best QB we have right now!
