Saints expected to be very interested in former Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy [ Rapoport: Interview to be early next week] (104 Viewers)

So we discredit Sean’s record in New Orleans even though all he and Mike’s numbers their entire career are almost identical, because 99% of it was with Drew?

Like…what

And I’ll go further in saying I’m not guaranteeing that this is the right hire, I do know you’re a little off base with your assessment that he was the issue in Dallas or any of his numbers should be discredited, heck he did a really good job this year. But the truth is, this is going to be a mess that someone inherits and I’m not close to 100% sure on who can fix it.
It’s definitely not Mike McCarthy. He will have us leading the league in penalties, making bone headed clock decisions and hoping his OC can call a decent game because he hasn’t called a relevant offense in 15 years

He did nothing in the post-season with Green Bay?

And he helped to build those Green Bay teams that won a Super Bowl and he helped to build Dallas to 12 wins in 3 of the last 4 years.

McCarty has a career .608 winning percentage why you think he would suddenly become a sub .500 coach is beyond me.

None of that is terrible. People's expectations are totally out of wack for what is possible in the NFL unless you have Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady. Even Brees and Payton couldn't live up to these expectations.

And, if you don't think McCarty could do better than 7-9, what coach do you think could better that that is actually available to be hired?
I think you have a reading comprehension issue. I said he did nothing in the postseason with extremely talented Dallas cowboys rosters, much better than what we currently have with the Saints. We need a young coach with a vision for how to build a roster, not a veteran coach who will need to continue going further into the salary cap hole to try to compete and fail.

So a coach that has been every bit as successful as Sean Payton is equivalent to Watson? Well, that’s interesting.

Complete made up fabrication of the truth. McCarthy has done nothing but under achieve with Dallas and Payton is overachieving in Denver. They’re nothing close to each other in success right now. McCarthy has also been fired from two head coaching jobs. Payton none. You guys make up the most random stuff.

Thanks for burying my thread and merging it on page 32 of this thread. SR was going to be a mess if we bumped that month old thread to page 2. I get it, you think McCarthy is a good idea

Yt’ers are no different than the average fan.

This guy has more credibility

Players rarely say something terrible about a couch in public. The Cowgirls were headed for a reset regardless.

What did he say that was wrong though
He down played Dallas making the playoffs 3 of the last four years. When everyone knows that you need an elite Qb to advance in the playoffs for the most part. The people that don’t want MM want an exciting hire, in other words a 50/50 coin flip gamble. I’d be more ok with that, if we had a decent salary cap situation and a solid roster and a solid Qb1.. Asking a young first time coach to come here in this situation is more like 80/20 fail rate. Some will say, well Sean Payton did it, I’d agree, and say, Mike Mcarthy is Sean Payton, Sb and winning %. So let’s not gamble and get the sure thing, in MM.

Dallas didn’t fire him, they mutually departed, his contract was up

Oh I get it. You want this team to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barely scrape by, win 9 or 10 games and get bounced in the first round every season. How fun.

Here’s what’s sure about MM:

Green Bay got better after he left.
He fired young OC who had the number 1 offense in the league. He has no coaching tree whatsoever. He makes terrible clock decisions at the end of games.

I couldn’t have said it better myself James. The fact that there’s a large contingency of Saints fans who think this is a good idea is mind boggling

Guy is butchering basic facts, not worth a listen.

“Seven of his eleven playoff wins were 2010 or earlier” is false, he only had four playoff wins through 2010.

“The 2023 offense had the worst offensive efficiency in 20 years for the Cowboys” is just a joke, the rest of the league must have been abysmal, since the Cowboys were 1st in scoring and 5th in yards.

90% of the video is him just making bad jokes about McCarthy being a bad hire because he doesn’t have any real arguments to make about why.
