Saints fans unite - don’t watch the NFL playoffs on Peacock (2 Viewers)

I still have it and I'm not being charged for it. Granted, it's with commercials, but I'm not paying for it.
I can still log-in and watch season1-episode1 of most shows, but live events and everything else has a purple peacock feather in the corner requesting a subscription.

Now they are bragging about how many people streamed the game yesterday. We all know where this is headed
It dawned on me yesterday, the perfect analogy. Someone steals something from you, then wants to sell it back.

NBC takes a free program and then tells you that you must pay to get it back.

I streamed the game but only because I already have a Peacock subscription. My boys are big WWE fans and for $5.99 a month its a pretty good deal to get all the pay per view events plus all the back catalog of past events etc. If I would have not had a subscription I wouldn't have paid for one just for that one game. I didn't have a dog in the fight and if it would have been a Saints game it would have been broadcasted on a regular channel in the local market.

NBC wants you buy the subscription, like a gym membership. We all know how that goes.

Welp, too many didn't listen.
And we will be rewarded accordingly:
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was “thrilled with the results of the first-ever exclusively livestreamed NFL playoff game.” Goodell appeared to signal more big games could come to streaming platforms: “To best serve our fans, we need to ensure games are available to them as their viewing habits change and this includes digital distribution as we continue to help shape the future of the sports and entertainment industry.”
For whatever reason, Browns-Texans was also watched more on Peacock than on any other platform where it was available. It had higher overall ratings (29m viewers across all platforms versus 23m viewers for Chiefs-Dolphins).

Oh, the NFL will milk this to death. If I hadn't already refused to get Peacock, I would over this.

I suspect a significant portion of subscription sales for digital content is based on customers forgetting they subscribed.

I agree. That's why I do all my streaming on pre paid gift cards. When the gift cards is about to run out I get an email asking me to update payment method. At that point I decide if I want to reup or not. Otherwise I'd forget and I'll be paying for services I don't really need.

it all started when they put Monday Night Football on ESPN. Now Thursday night games are on Prime, you'll now see more games on Peacock, Ihave no doubt CBS will follow with Paramount, and Fox with Hulu.

they didn't have to get 18m new subscribes, they only need like 1.5M that keep it for 12 months.
Most people who I know signed up to watch and plan to cancel after the season.

I don't watch network TV so I don't know if peacock is worth it or not.

I have Peacock and I didn't watch it. within a couple of years all games will be on pay channels. The only possible good that come out of this is that it might lead to other Leagues becoming more popular and eventually lead to the humbling/downfall of the NFL, which is something I'd like to see before I die.
