Saints fired OC Pete Carmichael (1 Viewer)

He didn't say we're keeping Pete at all, it was an insight I read to far into. It was along the lines of "it took Carr time to get acclimated to our system, it took us time to get acclimated to him" We'll I figured, why can the offensive system if Carr started playing well in it to end the year? Tweak it sure, but if you bring in a new offensive system you're basically giving that same mulligan again next year if he fails.

Well, he had to learn a new system. etc
Not if we bring in Gruden or even Bill Musgrave DC has worked well with both

Yay!!! So now we have to suffer again through Carr's learning the playback and throwing WRs hospital balls and under the table again. This time since we have a waaaaaaay tougher schedule..he won't wait til halftime to get injured. He will feign injury in the 1st quarter!!!!!

There's a reason why this guy was banned before and now he is again

I don't really see that, I think DA wants someone to take control of the O and JG will do just that. He'll have nothing to do with the D
DA may want someone to take over the offense, but not the team. People like Gruden do not subordinate to people like DA.

Eager to see who the team interviews for this position.

Not enthused about Gruden taking the job - both for his off-color remarks about people and how I feel he’d run a modern NFL offense.

Also not enthused about any sort of promotion from within - Marrone doesn’t inspire the type of innovation I think this team needs, and I don’t think Curry is ready yet. Between the two, I’d be happier with Curry getting the opportunity, because I think he has more of a capacity to prove me wrong and really get some fun and productive ideas out.

Let’s see what happens. :gosaints:
NO to Curry , 1st, nothing he has done gives me any reason to think he's ready for an OC position
2nd Like Underhill said, he was in the room when they all knew something was wrong and what did he do to change it

I think he will do just what an OC does run the O and let DA run the D, He's been an OC before. It's not like he's Hitler. That said Shane Waldron or Bill Musgrave might be preferred above JG

the o line improved and finished strong. dont know if marrone should be cannned
The OL has regressed EVERY yr since Marrone got here just like ALA talented OL underperformed and that why Saban fired him after 1 yr

Doug Marrone didn’t suddenly forget how to coach.

I think some of you guys just want heads to roll without fully understanding what goes into these positions, whose fault is what, etc.

What if behind the scenes Marrone hated what PC’s protection schemes were like? What if behind the scenes Marrone was the one that finally got PC to allow him to put who he wanted out there and that’s when we saw Peat do his thing at LT?

Just because a unit struggled doesn’t necessarily mean a position coach was doing a bad job, and just because a unit puts up good stats doesn’t mean their coach was doing a good job.
And what if , and mine are more fact-based. Marrone only had one OL really performing because he had Evans , Strief , Bushrod , Stinchcomb on it? And what if he parlayed that into a HC position that he was awful at and got fired. Then went on to have below avg OL in JAX then the bungling owner is dumb enough to make him the HC where he goes 25-55 and is fired. THEN Saban hires him to be OL coach. They underperform so badly that he fires him after ONE yr. Then what if he comes back to the Saints and the OL performance DECLINES EVERY yr he is OL coach?
Some coaches get lucky to have 3 all-pro O lineman on the same unit and it makes them look good. Doug Marrone is that such coach

Doesn’t Kubiak run that offense in San Fran? That can’t be the old QB Kubiak is it?
Naw it's Shanny that runs the O in SF , he calls the plays. Kubiak is the old QB/coaches son

id be stoked if Gruden would be an assistant HC. OR better yet, "Gruden will assume the duties of HC and DA will move back to DC." I just want real football people that people play for in the building. The promoting of assistants strategy have not netted any football guys. Except for Dan Campbel

Yea i don’t think a HC is gonna go back to OC or DC position… especially after being promoted to HC.

Unless he’s trying to redeem himself. His emails have made him untouchable in sure. So if he wants to get back into coaching, he’s going to have to take what is available.
