Saints head coach Kellen Moore introductory press conference, media updates, February 13, 2025 (6 Viewers)

Feeling real good for this new era of Saints football! These next three months (free agency, draft, schedule release) will see some pieces set into place so we can know what kind of season to expect. I’m looking for growth and four quarters of playing hard. If wins accompany that, great! I will be patient either way.

I think firing DA was based solely on the performance on the field and what players and staff had to say. I think she just mentioned the fan displeasure for public relations purposes.

I highly doubt Kellen Moore would have signed on with the Saints if there was any hint that what fans think would be factored into the decision making process in any way. I know I wouldn't. Fans don't know nearly as much as they think they know and they never will.

I understand and even agree with the logic, but that doesn't change what Gayle Benson said.

Gayle said she took fan displeasure and player feedback into account. And she said that she communicated with several players before she fired him. Maybe she wasn't telling the truth, but she said it.

But, I do agree that they should not make decisions based on what fans want and clearly Loomis did not want to do that and I doubt Moore would do that either.

I acknowledged that she said it. I didn't deny it. I think she only said the fans displeasure was taken into account when she fired DA for PR purposes. I don't think it's true. I don't know that it's not.

I think at the most she made the decision to fire DA based solely on what the players and staff told her, then after making the decision she thought "and the fans don't like him, so it's a win win."

So now even the owner is lying? Come on man.

Could be. But I think it would be naive of us to not realize that owners do care if fans are angry because if they are, they may buy fewer season tickets and don't go to or spend money at games. And the Dome was getting really empty at that point.

But, sure, it was probably just an added benefit in the form of good PR for a decision that had already been made based on record and the opinion of the players.

See, now you're spinning what I said. I never said she's lying and I don't think in her mind she's being dishonest or deceiving. If someone believes what they're saying, then they aren't lying when they same something that isn't factually accurate.

The line between public relations spin and lying is a blurry one. I don't think she thinks she's flat out lying. I think she's spinning it in a way that she thinks she's being honest while also scoring public relations points. People in Benson's position are conditioned to believe their public relations spin is true, because there's a grain of truth to it.

Besides, it's a bit rich that you are complaining about me saying I think it was just PR spin. You have frequently said that it's just "political" when anyone in the organization says something positive about Carr. So, come on man with your "come on man" overreaction.

Intelligence is really off the charts.
So is his coaching maturity. He knows how to answer questions without giving the answer that the media are looking for. Generally it's best when they don't really know what's going on.

I know firsthand she talked to fans about how they felt about the then current regime.

Just finished listening to the entire thing. I was high on Kellen Moore from the get go, and now that I've heard him speak as the Saints head coach, I have all the confidence in the world that he's gonna be successful. I feel very fortunate as a Saints fan that we landed Moore. This guy knows and understand how to win.

What really stuck out was Gayle. Lot of emphasis (both verbal and in body language) on Championship, Lombardi, and a very vocal support of KM. I could be wrong, but I don't recall her saying anything like that during the DA conference? Could just be me wiping that era out of my mind, though. Makes you wonder just how involved she was with this hire.

I was unsure of the hire at first. KM is obviously brilliant and flexible, which is a winning combo, but I was concerned he might just be a little to green in that he might not have the experience to have a full vision for the team. Pretty sure that unfounded now. More I hear him speak, the more excited I'm getting.

Fans she had an existing relationship with or random fans on an internet fan forum?

What were the general occupations of these fans? What did she ask them?

None of that information will divulge the identity of the fans she spoke to or what they said, so it should be okay for you to share that information.

Find a post where I said anything was "political" when it comes to Carr? I won't wait, because you won't find one.

And you did say she was lying when you said she put something that wasn't true in her statement for PR purposes only, as though you are privy to her conversations with fans or her deliberations. You may want to runs circles around it, but you said what you said.
