Saints head coach Kellen Moore introductory press conference, media updates, February 13, 2025 (39 Viewers)

I lost count of how many times he said, Uh. Pet peeve of mine when it’s uttered that many times. It was so annoying it was like someone inserted the uh just whenever they wanted because it didn’t sound natural how often it was used. I get that most people don’t have a gift for speaking. I know i don’t. I’d probably start farting or pass out 😆
It bothers me more when I use crutch words than when I hear others do it. I have empathy for them, because I know it takes consistent practice to avoid doing it.

I laughed heartily at your farting or passing out comment. I've had some public speaking moments where I felt like that was what was coming out of my mouth as I spoke.

It's not really nonsense. That quote is cut-off, and he was asked about it again later and the answer was more damning. There's a very good chance that Carr is not on this roster in 2025.
Actually, the last thine Moore said about Carr was that he looked forward to working with him.

What did he say about Carr that you took to be damning?

If people disagreeing with you bother's you this much, maybe take a break. Everything everyone posts here gets disagreed with by somebody. Why subject yourself to that if it bothers you as it does?
I don't mind people disagreeing one bit. It makes it fun.

You're not just asking people to admit they made a factual error, you come out the gates accusing them of lying and being dishonest. You're wrong that they are lying or being dishonest just because they said something that was factually inaccurate.

Are you know going to follow you're own standards and admit that you are wrong to tell people they are lying and being dishonest just because they said something that was factually inaccurate?
I do mind when people starting clapping back at me with factual inaccuracies to try to prove my, or others, points wrong. Especially when it's done repeatedly with the same things. At some point it's lying or willful ignorance and I don't discern much between them.

Tripp asked the point blank question if he viewed it as the Saints having a decision to make at quarterback, or do you view Derek Carr as our starting quarterback, and he was non-committal. Called him a tremendous starting quarterback in this league. If Carr was a lock to be on this roster, he would have answered the question with something that sounds like "Derek is our starting quarterback".

We may keep him, we may not, but it's pretty clear that they're going to weigh the options and make a decision. I'm not the only one who interpreted it this way.

One way or the other it was telling that he skirted around the Carr answers yet heaped tons and tons of praise on AK and Taysom. I didnt see it as him saying Carr won’t be our QB, but he certainly isn’t convinced on the prospect of it 100% otherwise he would have gave praise to the same effect as AK and TH7.

It was completely dancing around it and being nice and saying encouraging things about Carr, certainly was no endorsement as a starter. If you compare the level of praise and read between the lines, it’s clear he is going to really do his work to see who he wants to start at QB for 2025.

I didn't miss anything. You posted things that are factually incorrect and misleading other people into thinking we'd be paying him to not play like Denver did with Wilson. It's dishonest.
Next time I’ll say a gazillion. The fans want him gone yesterday. And doing so would cost us 28 mil in dead money. So 28 mill wasted, and no Carr for 25. How am I a liar?

If the New Orleans Saints were to cut Derek Carr, they would incur a significant amount of "dead money" on their salary cap, with estimates placing it around $11.4 million if designated as a post-June 1 cut, meaning the majority of the cap hit would be pushed into the 2026 season; however, the total "dead money" could reach upwards of $28 million depending on the timing of the cut and contract details.

I don't think that exactly it. He knows what he has in Carr, and I think he's comfortable going into the season with Carr as the starter. But he also knows where Carr's at in his career and that they need to find a long-term answer at QB. I doubt that he's had enough time to look at Rattler and Haener, or the draft to answer that question.

Of course he knows what he has in Carr. We all know what we get with Carr. Objectively speaking, Carr is not our franchise quarterback. And certainly, Kellen knows that his success will be tied to finding his guy. Trotting Carr out in his first season just honestly gets in the way of that. Carr probably makes a lot of sense for a few teams in this league. We're not one of them.

I remember a coach who used to say "look" a lot. I got used to it because he was really good. Then there was a GM who used to do the same thing. I don't like him. :p

You said "And its this, Mickey: "we paid 30 freaking MILLION DOLLARS for this QB to play in 2025.....".

That isn't true. They haven't paid him his 2025 salary and they can cut him before that money is paid. That money would not exist at all if he was cut. And nothing is wasted. The dead cap is from the money we already paid him for 2023 and 2024. That's what kicking the can does, makes you pay later for what you get now.

And none of the numbers you just posted now are right either. If he is a June 1 cut his cap hit would be his $10m roster bonus from last year and the 2025 portion of his prorated bonus which is $11,458,000, for a total dead cap of $21.458m this year. The remaining years of prorated bonus would be dead money in 2026 for a total of $28,674,000. Both of those are WAY less than the cost to restructure him because you aren't kicking his $30 million salary into 2026 when you would them have $60+ to keep him or cut him.

Yes Carr isn’t Joe Montana. And Carr isn’t our long term solution. But he’s the best that you can get until Rattler develops or some rookie in the draft surprises everyone. And not one NFL team is giving up a QB on their roster that’s better than Carr that we can get. And there’s no current free agents that are better. “We know what we have in Carr, 9 year sample bla bla bla”. That’s an opinion that came from paid actors that intentionally troll Saints fans for clicks. Seems only the paid actors and the gullible fans believe in it. The Actual pros and the coaches speak a 100% completely different story. Klint Kubiak said it’s why he chose to come here, to work with Carr. Moore also has a tremendous amount of respect for Carr. Detroit knew what they had in Matt Stafford, but yet he left a won a Super Bowl. Even the paid actor Matt Mascona, when questioned on his morning show, you know the guy that trolls bama is burning bama fans for delicious clicks. That guy, when asked by a commenter, when the commenter said, “how can you be such of good dad and nice guy but you are a complete butt crevasse on air?” His response, because my work personality is not me. Quit Parroting Paid actors opinions.

You’re over analyzing what I’m saying. I copy pasted the above from Google AI.

Could be wrong, but to my ears it sounds like that this is the departure of Carr. He's really dancing around (literally) this question. If he's sold on Carr, he woud've said it.
What part of "Derek is a tremendous QB in this league. I have so much respect for him. The journey he has been on. He is a starter in this league. He is a premier player in this league. He has had a great journey. Going from Fresno State to the Raiders & now here. I'm really excited to team up with him."
Tells you that Carr is out
