At worst we may trade Carr, but I seriously doubt we cut him. As Mike Triplett has been saying, if we cut Carr, we practically can't sign anybody. Maybe one FA and it can't be a big signing. So I see Carr sticking around for one final year and who knows, maybe he'll shock us and we win the division. I'm not expecting it, but crazier things have happened before.
Carr can't be traded unless he agrees to it, he won't. And Mike Triplett is kind of right and kind of wrong. We wouldn't be able to have anyone sign a contract until June if we cut Carr with a June 1 designation, but that doesn't mean there can't be a handshake deal on a contract that will be signed in June. Are the big free agents going to wait for that? I have no idea. But we shouldn't be looking for big free agents this year anyway. We'd be looking to fill guys in after the draft.

Let me go on record as saying I would have preferred a different option...

And I am only saying that because I also did not want SP (at the time I wanted Riverboat Ron). If my not wanting KM helps, than I will do my part. But know that in private circles and off the record, I actually like the selection and will be pulling for me.

Also, it should be noted that as soon as he wins his first game I will completely walk back this whole comment.

He said during Super Bowl interviews that if he got a job as a HC he would continue calling plays.

Good to hear/know....Thanks
Personal preference, you keep Carr and you see if Rattler can beat him out in training camp. At the very least you hope it’s so close that you give it to player w/ higher ceiling

Given the current situation I feel the same way, it will be interesting to see how Moore feels and how it all plays out....

Correct on Carr, but I'd manage that with psychology.

Sit with Carr and acknowledge he isn't the problem, but his age, his salary, and "what he's put on tape" isn't the solution. So you're going in a different direction...with youth. His cap hit is too high to cut him loose, and his no trade clause precludes a trade. That leaves only a single option. As a professional courtesy to an experienced veteran, you're letting him know he will be the backup in the new regime.

I'd be perfectly fine with this scenario. But I'm willing to bet that DC4 is NOT. Give him permission to explore trade options with other teams, and watch him get flexible with his contract to facilitate that. If he doesn't, we have the highest priced and best backup QB in the league. It's a bitter pill, but is probably the best option for the Saints moving forward.

I wonder if Kellen Moore could be looking at Chris Beatty for WR coach. He was with Moore in San Diego and was the interim OC in Chicago last year. With a whole new staff there, he may be available.

EDIT: Nevermind, The Raiders got him.

"Love it" is a bit over for me, but I am closer to that than the ok with it option. Went with wait and see
