"When Sean Payton took over he had no team to speak of; he hired players nobody wanted. For example; Pierre Thomas, Colston, and a guy named Brees that everybody saw as damaged goods, just to name a few. This Saints team has pro football players. They have not had good coaching. They are hungry. They are better than the record showed last year. They needed a real coach. We have one. We may win the Division this year. Watch and see."

My biggest concern for him won't be his ability to call plays or design an offense. He's proven he can do that. My concern is how well he will do as a leader of men and managing the game.

That's fair, but that's pretty much so the concern for every HC you hire unless they were a successful HC in the NFL at a previous stop. And you don't really get that option very often. Even loud outgoing guys like Rizzi and Campbell aren't guaranteed to be good leaders in the long run.

Not sure where the right place to post this thought is, but how is everyone feeling about him returning to Philly on Friday to attend their parade? In the grand scheme of things, it’s a single day. But I think it would go a long way with the organization and fans if he stayed here and hit the ground running. There is a lot of work to do and as far as getting ready for draft/next season, due to timing we’re already way behind the 8 ball.

I’m not so much concerned about how he will mange the game, he’s a super smart football mind. But your first point is why I think it would be important for him have a veteran presence at one or both of the coordinator positions.

He likely has access to a private jet, he’s earned the celebration, those few hours won’t make any difference whatsoever.

Maybe even Gayle will let him use hers.

But also it’s not so much a omg those few hours will stop us from being able to get things done. It’s more so from the standpoint of he’s a Saint now.

It’s no big deal IMO.

He’ll have to go to the ring ceremony in June/July too. It’s all part of winning the SB, even after changing teams.

I am fully supportive of him going to Philly for that parade. I want him to feel the joy of a city celebrating and to want to feel that again and then do it for New Orleans.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. He goes and celebrate and he will be back that night and then he's off. Who knows when the next time he will have to celebrate a Super Bowl. He pretty much has his staff in place and they have to do the Rooney interviews so that will take a few days. The draft that has been in the works for months with the scouting department. He will put his input on the guys he wants but the draft process is already rolling.

I don't know if he is returning or not, but I don't have a problem with it if he does. He has earned the right to enjoy himself for a day. Everyone needs and get time off and this is his. I'm sure that he will more than make up for that time from Saturday through the start of the season and beyond.

And it's not like he can't look at film, call people about assistant jobs, look at scouting reports, etc. on the way there and back. Plus, he probably needs to take his family back to Philly anyway so they can make arrangement to sell their house and move to New Orleans. He's probably going to be back and forth for awhile while getting the logistics of moving worked out. And Philly is only like a 3 1/2 to 4 hour direct flight from NOLA. And maybe Mrs. Benson will loan him her jet again.
