Jaxson Dart met with Saints before Pro Day ; Saints work out Kyle McCord & Hunter Dekker

Now those are 3 QBs that interest me. I'm no guru, but I see the cost of Ward #1 as being too expensive for the Saints, given the current state of the roster. I see Sanders as a likely average to above average starter in the NFL, but with a cloud of drama always lurking in the background, waiting to rear it's head. I see Ewers in a similar vein, but without the likely drama. Of those 3, I would prefer Ward. But not at the expense of the remaining roster development.

I actually like Dart and McCord. Slightly lesser prospects, but much less of opportunity cost to pull the trigger. Never heard of this Dekker dude, but honestly impressed that the current regime turned over that stone. I also keep hearing the name Tyler Shough on this forum, but haven't heard anything from the Saints about that name. This may indeed be a weak class for QB, but statistically speaking, at least one of these guys is likely to be a solid starter for years to come. Saints just gotta figure out which one of those guys IS that dude. I LOVE the due diligence here. Seems pretty obvious the Saints are wanting to draft a QB. Even if it's one I don't care for, I'll have to admit they did their homework and likely selected the best prospect. The cost of that prospect might be debated as to whether it was worth it, but I'll be comfortable they chose the best one! JMO!

At some point, people will make the connection that having a QB on a rookie contract is a big component of fixing their salary cap woes by 2027.

There’s several reasons beyond the obvious why they’re in this market
I think Drew may have unintentionally biased the FO's thinking in more ways than one, and hopefully Moore can convince them otherwise.

Really interested in Dekkers. He had the gambling thing that took him out of NCAA eligibility, so it’s unknowable really how he would have done his last year had he stayed at Iowa State. But he’s pretty accurate and can move. My guess is Jon Gruden has been in the Saints ear about him, apparently that’s who Dekker has been training with.

I know you’re doing your best to come up with rationales for selling our future drafts for this one specific player, but any objective observer can see that the salary cap for 2027 is already fixed. No further radical intervention is needed in this regard.

I don't like the idea of drafting a qb in this class and we need to re-built our roster .
We have too many old or injury prone players on our roster. We're not a QB away from contention / super bowl.

I really like Dart and McCord. I even really like Dillion Gabriel, but his height gives me pause. I know Brees was also short, but he was an anomaly, defying odds left and right his entire career. We didn't just strike gold with Brees. We struck, Gold, Diamonds, Rubies and Bitcoin. Unlikely Gabriel ends up being able to do the same. He's even shorter than Brees, less accurate and far less capable of dissecting defenses currently. Plays to the middle of the field is going to be rough for him. He's going to have to find a way to work through that, and a coach is going to have to scheme around it. Furthermore, blitzes up the middle will be his undoing early and often.
