Saints interviewed Eagles OC Kellen Moore [ 2nd interview completed on Jan 27 in Philly] (6 Viewers)

Is it normal for a team to fly to interview a coach? Is it the other way around?

He'll be 30. We can't keep planning on a guy who in his 20s doesn't hold up over a season.

I'd rather him as a weapon than an every down back.
Yeah, Kamara was never supposed to be a RB1, He is best in his 17-20 role. He is far superior as a pass catcher and an in space RB.

I’ve never believed in Moore, but we’ll see because it’s highly likely this is the guy if they’re flying to him.

“I’m happy for him and whatever happens, happens,” Mailata said. “But then again, with all those interviews lined up, I’m not surprised. The schemes are just bulletproof. He likes to play chess and use the long game, using one play to set up other plays up. Honestly, it’s a pretty fun thing to see when you’re actually executing the plays. There is a lot of tactical warfare going on there. For me as a player this year, he’s kind of opened my eyes to play-calling a little bit more, understanding why he’s calling certain plays and why certain formations marry up with other formations.”

I could have sworn he was talking about a young Sean Payton with “using one play to set up other plays….”

That’s not a bad thing at all.

I get that but you have Jeanty #1 and Miller #2. You are paying Kamara a lot of money on a new contract so you have to get him touches.

We are already paying $10 million to Hill to play a limited number of touches.

Yep. That was/is Payton's magic as a play caller. He so often set up stuff with calls earlier in the game. Lot of those reverses that he ran that went nowhere were later used to freeze the defense with a fake reverse.

Dude was a starting QB in college, won the most games of any college QB, and took Boise State to the Fiesta Bowl back when stuff like that didn't happen. He was also a backup QB in the NFL for several years fairly recently so he understands the dynamics of NFL rosters. I don't know if he's a Tomlin level leader, but he has to be some kind of leader to do that. He's also a coaches son so I'm sure he understands the importance of leadership.
I hope he is the guy, he's been earning his skin in the game for a few years and this could be the perfect union.
