Saints interviewed Eagles OC Kellen Moore [ 2nd interview completed on Jan 27 in Philly] (8 Viewers)

Kellen Moore seems to have a quiet and reserve demeanor. Pete Carmichael/Klint Kubiak type! Im really skeptical on this one!

Dude was a starting QB in college, won the most games of any college QB, and took Boise State to the Fiesta Bowl back when stuff like that didn't happen. He was also a backup QB in the NFL for several years fairly recently so he understands the dynamics of NFL rosters. I don't know if he's a Tomlin level leader, but he has to be some kind of leader to do that. He's also a coaches son so I'm sure he understands the importance of leadership.

My biggest hesitation with Moore is that his Eagles O Line coach / Run game coordinator and Saquan Barkley aren't going to come with him. What we just saw was brilliant, but it wasn't creative. It was smash mouth football that we don't have the pieces to replicate. That said, he's a young offensive coach that has 5 years of OC experience with 3 teams including one that just scored 55 points to get to the Super Bowl. Not in 2011 like McCarthy, but in two weeks. I feel like that might be the best we can do this cycle.

That O-line was built, any team can do that if the commit to it. We have 3/5 pieces in place. They added Barkley and there is a RB in the draft who is the best RB since Barkley. It wouldn't be hard to put that in place here.

Moore has been my dark horse favorite through the process. His resume has a lot of similarities with Sean Payton when he was hired, and he seems to be at the point in his career where he should be ready to coach a team (I’m not a fan of hiring one or two year coordinators).

And if it doesn’t happen with him, we could do a lot worse than having Mike McCarthy to fall back on.

Does it translate to being a good fit as a Head Coach, leader for what the Saints need right now? That's the million dollar question.

It might be our best bet to make the team watchable while getting cap cleared and waiting for a new QB to appear.

Sure we don't know if he's a good fit as a HC. You are never going to know that for anyone that hasn't been an NFL HC before. As a result, McCarthy would be the safer choice and I would be fine with that, but I'm also fine with betting on Moore's upside.

Best friend of a young QB is a running game.

I'm not a fan of Milroe, but I can envision an offense with Milroe and Jeanty running all over teams with Penning making defenders quit.
