Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (2 Viewers)

Production is production.

No, you can't argue with numbers. However, you have to look beyond the numbers to determine whether a football player is an overall asset to their team.

I'm just saying that looking for your 4th team in 7 years is a red flag. It may be nothing, it could be a problem, but the question cannot be dismissed out of hand.

I am a yes vote for bringing Boldin in if we can get him signed reasonably. The guy is a pro's pro and he can help the very young WR corps out both in the meeting rooms and on the field.

Hypothetical question....

IF we were to sign Boldin, would it be best to sign him (a) soon...as in, before training camp.........or (b) after Game 1, where that whole "salary is not guaranteed" thing kicks in ?

I remember reading something that Meachem said in the 2014 offseason.....right after he signed another 1 year deal. He had played the entire 2013 preseason with the Chargers....ended up getting cut, and was on the Saints roster in time for the season to start. Anyway, he mentioned that he was looking forward to actually being able to go through training camp/preseason with the Saints, instead of just jumping on board and having to become re-acclimated quickly, as he did in 2013. And this is form a guy who had familiarity with our system.

So, if we were gonna sign a guy like Boldin, should we just hope/assume he picks up quickly and sign him when the season starts? Or should we get him in here as soon as possible and let him start learning the playbook, etc. ?
