Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (1 Viewer)

Why would you say that? He hasn't played with anyone like a Brady, Brees, Rodgers...why would you not think he would at least match last year's output? I think he will surpass it, and be a leader on the field. Seriously, he had almost 800 yards playing on a dysfunctional team last year.

He was the #1 WR on a team that pretty much always played from behind and he'll be 36 years old.

The Niners actually had more passing yards last season than the two previous years but Boldin's numbers fell off by about 35%.

Most receivers that had that kind of drop off in production at that age I would say they are done. Boldin is kind of like a knuckle ball pitcher in baseball, losing a little speed isn't going to hurt as bad as most because speed is such a small part of their game. Then again, we all also saw what happened when a slow player lost a couple steps last season with Browner. The difference is defenses can't target Boldin and they still have to cover him, plus he can block.

So yeah, I think he is a guy that could come in, get 30-40 catches 500 yards, make a few tough 3rd down catches and be a productive blocker but most importantly can teach these young guys how to be a pro.

Honestly where does Rapoport get his information about the Saints? Some Saints fan in Westwego?

I can understand getting one report wrong. I can understand getting a few reports wrong. These guys are under a lot of pressure to be the first to break the scoop. Fans want information and we want it now so guys like Rapoport will go ahead with a report even if the source of the info is a little dicey. At this point though I'm starting to wonder if he even has a source when it comes to the Saints. It's like he's just throwing stuff against the wall in the hopes of something sticking. So here we are with another 15 page thread about a player who the FO has no interest in because of Ian Friggin Rapoport.

Not saying this is the case, but If the Saints were not successful in their bid it wouldn't be uncommon to use a media person to say they weren't really interested. Make KT feel like she is getting a "leak", she reports it and then you have instant damage control.

If all the things I'm reading about Boldin are true, seems like he wouldn't be looking for his 4th team in 7 years.

It's not a matter of having to believe they are true or not. Production is production.

Outside of Brees, how many big timer players signed with the Saints while they were in their prime?

LMMFAO

well in my defense...my alert ( ScoreMobile) didnt say author of report. lololol

Well that was a letdown for nothing

I'm unable to upload the excerpt but I can at least tell you that I just saw a video feed of Mike Florio (PFT) talking about Boldin, his future and he too has him linked exclusively to New Orleans.

We shall see what develops ...

This. Nobody is making up his stats. He averaged over 1,000 yards per season in his 3 years in San Francisco. That might not seem like a lot but it's pretty impressive when you think about that offense and who was throwing him the ball.

With Crabtree and Vernon Davis on the field I don't think the 49ers planned on Boldin being their leading receiver when they signed him but that's exactly what he did. He led the team in receiving all three years he was there.

I don't think anyone believes that Anquan Boldin would come in and be our #1 WR while putting up Pro Bowl numbers. His days of being a Pro Bowler are over but he doesn't have to be a Pro Bowler to help this team. Even at 35 years old he is still a really solid player and could fill that Colston role IMO, help move the chains and provide another redzone target. Also, apparently he's a world class teammate and human being in general. That would be a bonus considering how young our WRs are.
