Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (1 Viewer)

Boldin is also a catch and make something happen specialist...pointing to the use of more WR screens which are a safe "explosive play" when they work. He and Michael Thomas would add oomph there and also the returning of Snead who was/is a tough runner in the open field.

35 years old. 36 in several months. I'm in the "no thanks" camp. If all we needed was a veteran player to help with developing our young wrs, we should have offered Colston a cheap contract to do the same.

1. look at stats
2. Boldin will not just be a veteran player to help with developing, that is the added bonus to what he will bring to this team.
3. Colston is done with football, has already moved out of town and is concentrating on working on his businesses and managing them.

It's over, it was great, but it's over.

Can someone just embed a video of his highlights?

Last Years highlights - Dude is still clearly playing at a high level.

Wow...when you think about the fact the Cardinals had he and Larry Fitzgerald as teammates at one point.

Nope we def don't need that guy on our team smh

He's clearly in better physical shape and condition then Colston was at any point in the past two seasons.

He beats man coverage deep several times in that highlight video as well.

I don't just think he could help us out offensively. He could be a difference maker, especially in some of the areas we struggled the most in. A thick physical, possession receiver like that is simply something we do not currently have on the team (Thomas' potential aside, he could be that guy eventually among other things). Coleman even at his size is nowhere near that kind of talent in traffic. Cooks and Snead fill their roles but aren't that kind of player either.

Much ado about nothing?

Sorry didn't see it already posted

Well this sucks

Hes a great route runner and a great possession receiver. Well, he has been. Certainly worth bringing in to kick the tires.

And from everything Ive ever heard about him, he's a hell of a teammate. Dont see any downside to this move.

I'm still hoping for Alshon Jeffrey anyways. Much younger and much better. The Bears haven't offered him a long term deal yet. If we could afford to go after Josh Norman, then we can afford Alshon.

I'm of the mindset that where there is smoke, there is fire.

The Saints tried out Robert Meachem not terribly long ago, so there is apparently at least minimal interest in a veteran receiver. Lord knows I've defended Meachem's role many times.....but it's quite obvious that Anquan offers so much more as a complete WR. Couple that with the WR coach loving him.......and the fact that he has yet to sign anywhere.....I'm not ruling this one out just yet.

Yea, he's much better at this point in both of their careers. Not happening though
