Saints Meeting “Extensively” With Hendon Hooker (2 Viewers)

There is so much focus on the Saints and Hooker getting together, that I'm afraid some other QB-needy team will jump us to get them a Hooker, a la Mahomes. I think we might trade up to Kansas City's spot at the bottom of the first to get the 5 year option.
Then why not just take him at 29?? I mean the last pick is only 2 spots away.

Well, I’m not sure how this would even work but EVERY team meets with EVERY prospect at the senior bowl and the other events. Teams can’t just “meet extensively” with a prospect so this report seems to be more click bait from a click bate source.

imo Hendon is not worth a #29 pick. Time will tell if I am wrong or right.
My thing is…if a QB is worth a 3rd round pick, he’s worth the 29th pick.

QB is the one spot where there’s no middle ground. Not with salary. Not with value.

I don’t know if Hooker is or isn’t. Or Tanner McKee or anyone else in that second tier after the top 4 in this draft.

But I’m definitely not gonna complain if we take a QB at 29 if we view him as a potential starter.

EXACTLY!

QB is the one position where you "overdraft" to get a guy at the end of the first round to get that fifth year option. If you think he's worthy of pick #40, you take him at pick #29 because if he works out, you get a much cheaper fifth year out of him. That could save you $10-15 million a few years from now, and that is a big deal.

I'm not sold on him being a franchise QB, but he looked good in college.

We overdraft DBs already. I haven’t seen enough of the kid to say as of yet my opinion on him.
