Why?I wouldn't be mad about that. I think Teddy would be a better mentor for a young QB than Dalton
Because Teddy has been considered an ultimate teammate and mentor at every stop in his career.
I would go for that. Is he an available free agent?Because Teddy has been considered an ultimate teammate and mentor at every stop in his career.
Because Teddy has been able to read defenses, change plays, and to a lesser degree, create off-script in multiple offensive systems.
Because Teddy has already operated the same system the Saints are running now (albeit with CSP) with much more success than Dalton.
And because Teddy is personally respected and “loved” by a LOT of guys on both sides of the ball in NO.
That is the type of guy you want mentoring the guy that you hope is your future.
His 2022 stats are respectable. I'm not saying I've watched all his games, but these are very respectable numbers:The guy escaped the pocket 150 times at Tennessee. And completed SEVEN PASSES.
He is Chris Weinke and Brandon Weeden, if he is fortunate.
STATS | CMP | ATT | PCT | YDS | YDS/G | TD | INT | RATE |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Regular Season | 229 | 329 | 69.6 | 3135 | 285.0 | 27 | 2 | 175.5 |
Yes, he's a free agent.I would go for that. Is he an available free agent?
Georgia shuts most guys down. He played in the SEC, so you can't really on one game as if he's in a small conference. They beat LSU and Bama, and last time I checked, those schools have NFL talent. My concern about Hooker is how badly Georgia shut him down...
He didn't look like an NFL starting QB against the Georgia Bulldogs this year and Georgia's D is the more like an NFL D that most other college programs.
He kept backing up in the pocket...instead of stepping up or sliding right or left! Most of his stats came late in the game when it had long been decided who won.
His age and the offense that was run at UT doesn't help his NFL aspirations.
Again this doesn't bode well for a successful NFL starter...

Both of yall trippin....while all of the above are true and the reason behind my response I was going to say because he was black...which im assuming here (maybe incorrectly...im known to be wrong alot) was the response he was looking for....so thereYes, he's a free agent.
I brought up Teddy because of what I think he brings to the locker room. It just seems like there was a general malaise around the offense last year. The team needs some energy and fun on that side of the ball. I also think his experience with rehabbing from a catastrophic knee injury would be beneficial to Hooker.
Exactly, and with our situation, it is worth the shot.My thing is…if a QB is worth a 3rd round pick, he’s worth the 29th pick.
QB is the one spot where there’s no middle ground. Not with salary. Not with value.
I don’t know if Hooker is or isn’t. Or Tanner McKee or anyone else in that second tier after the top 4 in this draft.
But I’m definitely not gonna complain if we take a QB at 29 if we view him as a potential starter.
He signed a 1 year deal with MIA last year, meaning that unless he re-ups with Miami before then, he will be an UFA when the new league year begins in mid March.I would go for that. Is he an available free agent?
Was Taylor projected as a 2nd round guy last year?
