Saints Meeting “Extensively” With Hendon Hooker (2 Viewers)

In a re-draft, he might be the 5th or 6th CB taken at the top of the 2nd. D. Adams was shut down to 1 catch for 3 yards in a year he put 1500+. Taylor was 8th in lowest passer rating allowed. He was 1 of only 5 CBs to allow less than 5yd/target. I could see rooking rankings as Sauce, Woolen, Stingley, Elam, Taylor?, Jones. With him as the 35th or 39th pick instead of 49th.
I remember people saying he was a reach last year, considering we didn't have a third because of the Olave trade. Also, I was responding to the notion of overreaching on a player you like. If we like him, you must take him at 29 or move up to 20s if you think another will grab him. I like the idea of grabbing a rook with a high ceiling that sits a year rather than a bidding war for Carr. Although, I have little confidence in this offensive staff to develop a rook.

imo Hendon is not worth a #29 pick. Time will tell if I am wrong or right.

You're 100% correct. In agreeing with that... the fact of the matter is there are tops 18 players in every draft that have a first round grade, so anywhere after say.. pick 20... you're drafting 2nd round talent with your first round pick.

If Hooker is your guy you draft him. Doesn't matter what the draftniks say. I don't think he makes it to 29, but I hope he does, and I hope we take him.

I like what I seen from Hooker til he got hurt. You can see in his highlight folms he doesnt have a quick NFL release, which means that he needs to focus on that, but what I did like is how big he is compared to his Linemen. Plus the oower in his throws and throwing motion. Reminds me of Watson. Also you can see his head move alot before throws, which means he not a 1 read thrower, which would be huge for a Rook.

I dont think he is a day 1 starter and we should be cool with that. You get his butt in the qb room and have him focus on studying. Id like us to keep Jameis and Taysom, and Hooker at 3rd QB.

Carr wont sign until after the draft, the draft is weak at qb...and if Carr does not sign before the draft, and we got a shot at Hooker...you take him at 29 or draft a spot back and get more picks and pray he is there at 31 which is even better.
Jameis is gone. I wouldn't mind keeping him, but it's obvious Allen is not a fan of his.

That ⬆️ sums up my feelings… I think (at this point) someone else pulls the trigger on Hooker… before #29.

If the Saints land him at 29, I’m good. If someone trades up and takes him at 28…?

…I hope Hooker crashes and burns.

It's all speculation but I will be surprised if he doesn't make it past #29... In the 2nd round. I think he goes mid to late 3rd at best. Imo he will go in the 4th or later

Wait… that’s a pretty evasive stat… how many 1st downs/TDs did he convert on those plays? If he ran from 143 1st/TDs, that stat seems a lil different then how you’re presenting it.

I’m not sure what to think about Hooker, I loved him in College but we’ll see but this stat is pretty meaningless without the rest of the data.
He is very flat-footed in the pocket, and does not move around it well. When he does run he's pretty decent. Very statuesque. He needs a clean pocket

Both of yall trippin....while all of the above are true and the reason behind my response I was going to say because he was black...which im assuming here (maybe incorrectly...im known to be wrong alot) was the response he was looking for....so there
TB is THE definition of an average QB. Yes he's loved by the team but he's not a leader. Carr is a leader

I really hope we get Carr, but would totally be good with drafting Hooker. What I see when watching Hooker, is someone with proto-type size, accurate, and mobile. I will admit, that in the Georgia game on the road, in a hostile environment, he did give me the JW "deer in headlights" feeling.

Fork in the road: The game before Georgia against ranked Kentucky. Blew them out 44-6 while the TN defense held Levis to 98 yards passing. The same defense that made Spencer rattler look like Joe Montana. I just don't get the love for Levis, but I digress.

Someone posted his stats from last year. His stats from the year before are almost identical. 68.2% for 2945 yards | 31 TDs to 3 INTs. I get it that the TN system is QB "friendly", but the guy passes the eye test for me. We don't need him to get to his 4th progression. Nothing wrong with tucking and running if the 1st and 2nd read is not there, imo.
He's only mobile when he takes off and runs. Watch his feet, he plays flat-footed and does not really step into his throws. Does not move in the pocket well

That is because that Hoepel offense usually has the first read open so he just sets to throw to that option. I don’t like him to ever be a long term starter in the pros.

?!?!?! Nobody talmbout Carr...but Teddy B ain't gonna cost no where near as much as Carr will and will probably get us around the same result. But I'll play

Can you point out on this list when that great leader Carr arrived in Oakland...because for someone who some of yall think is worth over 30M a year...I don't see that great of an impact from outstanding leadership under center

2 interceptions to how may touchdowns

lol it’s funny ain’t too many questioning tanner mmmkay like this lol
No one is even talking about Tanner because no one thinks he is good.
But tell us the real reason why you dont like him.

There is so much focus on the Saints and Hooker getting together, that I'm afraid some other QB-needy team will jump us to get them a Hooker, a la Mahomes. I think we might trade up to Kansas City's spot at the bottom of the first to get the 5 year option.
Legit concern. I don't know if it was a function of Sean Payton talking too much, but I feel like the Saints never got the guy they wanted at QB because other teams knew more than we did. I guess now we will find out.. but if the situation stays the same, or gets worse..

Don’t we meet extensively with a qb every year? This probably all smoke
