Saints met with QB Shedeur Sanders [Deion Sanders ok with Saints drafting Shedeur]

Should the Saints draft QB Shedeur Sanders if he falls to #9?

He’s basically ok with him going to any team that desperately needs a young quarterback outside of the Steelers I guess. It’d be different if he said just one or two teams.
I know that

I get nauseated every time I see this mentally challenged thread. I've been a fan 45 years, 45 years! I'd puke on Sundays having to watch this immature kid flashing his uncontrolled arrogance. I'll be thankful when this thread dies.
Mentally challenged?
Who's mentally challenged?

He was just naming teams in the top 10 of the draft that might take a young QB. And he probably just said it to dispel rumors that there were certain teams that he would not let Shadeur play for.

I am not saying that I expected it to be 3/4 Yes to 1/4 No, but I am surprised it’s not closer to 50/50

so does that mean if he falls out of the top ten Prime is going to have issues with it? Idk it really shouldn’t matter what he wants. If Shadeur falls out of the top ten, does he want him to fall all the way to the second round so that he ends up with one of the teams he mentioned?

I didn't and don't fault Sanders for who his father is, but his father will still be a huge distraction for whichever team drafts him. Teams with distractions don't do well on the field.

The most exciting thing any team can do is win a lot more than they lose. I don't need anything other than that to get excited about.

Bush's college scandal and dating Kardashian is no where close to how much drama Deon is going to stir up for the team who drafts Sanders.

I'm not understanding How, Like whats an example of how media detractors effect performance. Deion coaches college football, even if he going say stuff in the media how does that correlate to Kellen Moore performance for keeping his team straight. It's just an excuse to justify why they dont like the kid without watching any film. Like some Dr Seuss fan theory that based on 0% facts or Logic. Just say you dont like his dad or his personality without make belief justification. If his footwork is bad say that, decision making on the field cool, But the deion his dad going ruin the team theory is just lazy analysis

No it just means that he is hoping his son gets drafted in the top 10. Wouldn't you want that for your son? Wouldn't you care what team drafted your son? Wouldn't you want him to go to the team he wants to go to?

It mattered to Archie Manning and he made sure to pick where Eli went. And somehow we didn't have a problem with that, but we have an issue with Deion saying he would be happy for Shadeur to play for any of 4 or 5 teams?

Personally I wouldn’t want my father weighing in at all. I don’t like it when Archie does it either. These are grown men. Wherever they get drafted, they have to make the most out of it regardless of the situation.

Sure, but Colorado's talent wasn't that much better than the talent of the teams they played and the OL was pretty bad. They had one great player in Hunter and a very good QB in Sanders.

I'm not saying Sanders is close to the player Burrow is/was. I'm just saying that being arrogant isn't a disqualification to be a great QB when you see guys like Burrow, who was also arrogant, become great players. In fact, many great players are arrogant.

So, while I think there are many legit criticisms of Sanders, like his tendency to run backward in the pocket to get out of pressure and a not great arm, I'm not sure arrogance is a good reason to not draft him. But, that will really depend on how teams feel after meeting with him and/or interacting with other players. It's a big part of why the Saints like to take a group of guys out to dinner. They like to see how guys relate to other players.

And, in the end, the Saints apparently have a 2nd round grade on Sanders so they probably won't take him at #9 and it seems likely someone will take him before #40 given that QBs are always over drafted.
Why can't we afford Sanders the same grace and "redemption" we gave to Rattler?

Rattler slipped into the 5th round and his character concerns were overstated. If you told me Sanders was going to be available in the 5th round, the concerns become a non issue.

But had Rattler had more success in college he would have been drafted much higher despite a very public history of arrogance on the TV show about him. His play and lack of great success in college are what got Rattler drafted in the 5th.

Everyone speaks about a circus. But I think that’s exactly what this stale small market team needs. We need to be rejuvenated. We’ve become a bit boring since Drew has retired. We don’t play many prime time games. What’s with the want for staleness that we are currently surrounded with? I’m no fan of Deon but for Sanders to fall to 9 and we need a new quarterback and we pass on this for a tight end or CB?

He can’t help who his father is. He spends a lot of time laughing at the persona. I’d take my chance and pick him if he falls to 9. We need something to get excited about. 2025 is going to be a long season. KM is an offensive minded coach. Remember the Reggie Bush pick? Was dating a kardashian. College scandal. Sanders was raised in money so were the Mannings.
🤔

My only beef with Sanders is that I don't see huge upside. My sense is that he can be a competent pro quarterback but strikes me as more of a game manager, and I am not taking him in the top 10 for that kind of potential. He'll have a deserved place in the league, but it's not the right pick for us right now.
