scoring 30+ points 11 times in a season isn't easy, even against sub .500 teams. Rushing yards, they were middle of the pack. not great, but not terrible.
like its been said many times here, Dallas lack of success is mainly on Jones shoulders. its been proven time and time again with every Coach since Jimmy Johnson.
Good coach. Not a fan. If it were a choice between him and Gruden, I would go with Gruden. I love Gruden's passion and positivity for the game. McCarthy just seems perceptually grumpy and negative.
I doubt Gruden will ever be a HC in the NFL again because of the racial nature of his email debacle...Good coach. Not a fan. If it were a choice between him and Gruden, I would go with Gruden. I love Gruden's passion and positivity for the game. McCarthy just seems perceptually grumpy and negative.
Hard to argue the logic. He was 49-35 in Dallas and the played in 4 playoff games over 5 years. That is a huge upgrade from DA who was 18-25 with no playoff games.
He has moved up to number one on my chart, which means nothing, I know. LOLFun fact - Mike McCarthy has had only five losing seasons in his 18 year head coaching career…
2008: GB 6-10
2017: GB 7-9
2018: GB 4-7-1 (fired)
2020: DAL 6-10
2024: DAL 7-10
In 2017, his starting QB Aaron Rodgers missed significant time due to injury, playing in only 7 games.
In each of this two losing seasons in Dallas, 2020 and 2024, his starting QB Dak Prescott missed significant time, playing in only 5 games in ‘20 and 8 games in ‘24.
So, 18 seasons, 5 losing seasons, 3 of which involved him not having his starting QB for more than half of the season.
This guy is a flat-out winner, knows how to build a program, and I want him to be our head coach.
None of the candidates will surprise Loomis, he’s knows them all already. You'd think this decision comes down to McCarthy, Glenn, or Joe Brady. Does Glenn or Brady knock loomis' socks off?
2nd down and 3. Carr throws it 30 yards for a low percentage pass. 3rd down and ten. Carr checks it down for a three yard pass. I am still pissed at the hospital balls he has thrown. I hate how his percentage goes up when we are losing in the fourth quarter. Eric McCoy almost beat the breaks off of him last year because he cannot decipher protection. Then blamed his Offensive line. When he hung Olave out last year when he was not even in the progression. I knew then I hated this dude. Then he is smug. Go look at the tape. He is not taking a pay cut. He is not serious. McCarthy will bring very respectable Defensive players. He will bring Cooper Rush over from Dallas for 3-5 Million Dollars. He will rebuild it. The idea of Derek Carr staying here makes me sick to my stomach. Get out of Salary Cap hell. Go get Arch next yearI'm not saying don't start making those cuts and getting the cap in order now. I'm saying that you're not buying much time or caps space by cutting Carr now or even post June 1st. I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. I do think that a McCarthy/Zimmer led staff may want to keep Carr one more season and see what they can do with him and make a decision after next season.
At that point they'll have more flexibility and can pursue a QB in the draft next year.
He's the largest cap number, but that's true of most starting QBs in the league.
Carr doesn't play defense, and the defense wasn't very good in key situations the last 2 years. That's just a fact. Carr isn't without his faults, but the team was a donut without him. So, he makes the team better. By enough to justify keeping him? I dunno. But he's been scapegoated by too many fans. He deserves criticism, but it's a team game and he was hardly the main problem the last 2 seasons.
I put a larger part of the blame for poor performance on coaching than anything else, because is generally true. I mean, Payton turning Denver around is exhibit A.
I’m very curious to see what kind of defense he comes up with for JD. It’ll be a tough test for sure.Things I do not like about Glenn. Great coach. Everyone respects him and loves him. He is from the DA system. He was a Cornerback. We are going to be playing man to man all the time. Which means the defenses back will be to these mobile QB's. Every third down and ten. There will be a scramble for a first down. You have to play zone sometimes. You have to incorporate zone blitzes. There are times for all Defensive Coverages. I am so tired of QBs scrambling for first downs on us. These blitzes where we have big Defensive ends falling into coverage against Tight ends, and backs destroys my life. Then people ask " Why do we have so many pass interference penalties?" We play our corners on islands. We moved an outside corner to defend a slot receiver.
More than one championship is an impossible bar. The only current NFL head coach that has more than one is Andy Reid. It's not like those guys grow on trees. He has moved up to number one on my chart, which means nothing, I know. LOL
The guy wins. I understand he has not won more than 1 championship, but neither has SP who had a top 5 QB for years. I want a coach who knows how to build and shape and organization and implement a plan that leads to getting us to the dance every year with a chance. This organization needs consistency and Mike would bring that no questions asked.
But to your broader point, I think a ton of defenses are struggling to stop mobile QBs because the offenses are still evolving into the hybrid model and have a small step on the defensive adjustments league-wide.
